Potty training

Re: Potty training

I am training my little one at 2.5 yrs of age.
Well, she had a few accidents but not as many as my older one :D

I was so afraid in the beginning cuz she's a jin.. I didnt know how to get her to do anything in the toilet. So I first started by giving her the idea of using the toilet seat by washing her there.. So she knew that this place is related to diapers and potties :D
Lekin I have to give credit to my sister who took her to the toilet and helped her with doing it there for the first time....

Now she wears diaper only at night or nap time or when we go out... and when she's wearing it she doesnt exactly tell but when she's not she comes to me right away and asks me to take her to the toilet.

Re: Potty training

My mum tells me that when i was little like i couldn't even hold my little gunja bobbling head properly, my dada who used to love me a lot took me with him and early in the morning he used to make me sit on the potty (seat) and later on after i did my business my maasi would clean me up and take me back to my dada...My mother was horrified at first but once when my dada wasn't home..she noticed i was a bit upset and later when she kept on on the seat, i happily did my little business..since then my mother made me sit on "The Chair" every morning and then sent me to dada..so yay my dado he made my mums life easy for her :D

My younger brother when he was little he was scared to even go near the toilet seat..because it was too big for him..poor guy used to do his work in the bathroom only but no where near the actual place..once my mum got tired and gave him a tight slap because she was sick of cleaning his mess and he would never listen (but he was only 2-3 :() khair after that slap even though he used to hold it longer but when he couldn't control he used to tremble and get so scared but would climb on himself and hold my mum so tight..after a day or so he got used to it.

Re: Potty training

I dont even remember now and dont want to remember either . haha

Re: Potty training

I put my 6 month old on the potty chair a few times esp in the morning then she got sick so I gave her a break. She liked it in the beginning and actually went pee...have to try again.

Re: Potty training

wow niksik.. every 15min! Im gonna start on my daughter in about 2-3 weeks... they've already started training her at creche and at home she tells me when she's about to dirty her "nammy".. but she's a bit scared of sittinf on the big toilet..

im gonna have to get the right utensils soon and train her...

Re: Potty training

Sadzzz, you could do every half hour but with the 15 mins, she had 0 accidents! Less work for me :D

Re: Potty training

how were u able to wake her up every 15min at night? thats the only thing im worried about.... my bachi is very neend ki pyaari hehe

Re: Potty training

i think every 15 mins is too much, try every 45 mins, that works better and dont leave them on the toilet for longer than 10mins, as its torture for the poor child, once they get the hang of it, they love going....my son loved flushing the toilet once he'd used it, i also had a sticker chart in the bathroom and rewarded him with stickers, and when he had about 5 days accident free, i took him shopping and brought him a gift...it worked wonders.
i dont like pull ups, kids have the same comfort as they do with nappies, its best to just put them in pants, and expect a few accidents.
for night time training, once they have beeen dry during the day they will follow up in the night...its best to take day and night nappies off at the same time. in my experience you dont need to take them to the toilet constantly in the night, take her before she goes to bed, and if she needs to go in the night, she will get restless in her sleep and moan or cry, so just carry her and sit her on the toilet..she wont be too disturbed, and will nod off straight away....

That was only during the day for the first 2 days :smack: At night she still sleeps with a pull up even though it’s usually dry in the morning but I don’t want to take a chance yet. However, she does wake up and lets us know that she wants to go sometimes. She whines or cries and points toward the bathroom

She got so used to it that she was actually done the first two days. Later, it was more of “being sure” that she’s trained.

It was longer with my older one. It took her more time. I guess the younger ones are excited because they want to be like their older siblings.

Re: Potty training

oh woops.. i must have read wrong :) When you said night i thought you meant even whilst she was sleeping.. I was thinking, how on earth would u be coping with no sleep hehe

Arritey.. im gonna try giving it a go in the next few weeks.
