Potty Training-- Need Help

How do you potty train 3 and 2 yr old boys? My 2 yr old knows but tells after he’s done. My 3 yr old knows as well but I think is scared to poop, new concept, surrounding etc.
Help will be greatly appreciated

I'm going through the same thing. Our daughter is 2 and a half. She has pooped on the potty once. I find that I have to let her run around without a diaper and just do intensive potty day. Give lots of liquids and encouragement. Demonstrate sitting on potty with a doll. Make it a fun thing. Then reward them when they're done. He's scared to poop? Are you using an adult sized toilet or a child size potty? Maybe he's scared of falling in the toilet?

:hehe:

SaimaNYC: Child sized potty. They both know what it is, they see it in their diapers and say yuck, potty etc.

:rotfl:

Blushing Vision: Don't laugh, Inshallah you will be posting the same questions in no time.
This is a serious issue I got on my hands and can't figure it out. I mean I trained my two dogs to go outside or to paw at the door to let me know, but can't seem to figure out how to approach this one.

we experienced the same resistance with our son but we kept at it without forcing him... they have to feel comfortable and threatening does not work.. just be persistent and patient.. every kid is different, with ours we noticed that telling him that his friend so and so does it like a big kid helped.. for him being a big kid and acting like one is/was very important so we used it to our advantage.. usually boys take longer to get potty trained, attention deficit I think :)

rewards and punishments have always worked in my experiance, you gotta let them learn no matter how hard it is, i think its easier when they are as young as your children are. My cousin stills wears a nappy and hes 4!! He knows its something he can control therefore he's not gonna give up without a fight!!!

I had 2 teach my khalas cat how 2 use a cat toilet  it was not easy :hehe:

I was laughing due the words u used :hehe:

My wife had a jar full of candies. My 2 1/2 years old daugther was given the incentive that every time she does pee pee or poo poo in the potty seat, she will get a candy.

Before even the time candy jar was empty, she was potty trained.

Of course, along with the incentive, you have to make them feel comfortable with the whole process.

Hope this helps.

I am going thru the same with my 2 1/2 years old daughter.

I keep getting told that it's better and/or easier to potty train children during the summer. Does it really make that much, if any difference?

Children learn best by example. Potty training is complicated when we live in situations like ours as the small ones don't see the adults and they don't have other small children to imitate.

There a books out there with simple ilustrations - showing them to kids and saying, "See, this is how we do, mom doesn't wear a nappy!" may work as well.

In any case the key is patience.

Shirin: Got books and videos, they watch, look at pics and know what it is.
Chachoo: Thanks for your reply. How did you start though?
Grunge: Nice suggestion will give it a try.

BTW I even thought of taking my #2 boy to Pakistan for a week, have my sister train him, bring him back and apply the knowledge on #1.

The ass is not really an intelligent part of animal body. So it shouldn't care about the weather. I think but I am not a Dr.

How did I start?.... hmmm.. don't remember exactly.. I don't think he ever had an issue with sitting on the thing, it was just letting go part was the one that posed the issue... he loves reading/browsing books and mags so we used to read him books and show him trucks and cars from books and mags to make him comfortable...

well, i think its easier in summers ....coy 'accidents' do happen around training n its comfortable enough to wash n change that frequently ...

for both of my boys ...i waited for summer holidays ...went to pak n got them trained....:D
seriously its easier there....dunno why!!
perhaps there in pak, whenever i start losing patience ...my mother / Mil would give me a nice lecture which is full of tips/tricks....n helps of course!

Oh right, well that makes sense I suppose. And a lot of people say the same....that it's easier to potty train children back in pakistan. I wonder why?

I am going through potty training with my little one also. I cannot understand how elders in the family keep telling me that they trained their 6 month old and their 9 month old to do potty, when kids can't even say the word potty until they are over a year old.

Its just beyond my understanding...

I think "our" concept of potty training is slightly different than those of our elders.

What do you all think ?

:rotfl: big time. Yar please don’t mind..but the way you described it is quite humorous (in a cute way)…especially the words yukh potty etc..i think i can almost imagine their expressions :hehe:

I wish they learn soon. :k: can’t offer any help mate…not there yet :stuck_out_tongue:
