I’ve always wondered why the poorer sunny nations never invest in solar power when your basically running everything for free!

Re: Potohar Town to have solar energy streetlights

Because such equipment is usually very expensive.

Which potohar town is this?

Re: Potohar Town to have solar energy streetlights

Solar powered calculators in Britain cost peanuts. And you can buy other solar powered lights for gardens and stuff for peanuts.

Are you sure it's because it's expensive or are people just unaware of it?

Re: Potohar Town to have solar energy streetlights

It should be mentioned in the article I think.

Re: Potohar Town to have solar energy streetlights

Attock and Chackwal Districts comprise the Potohar area. great scenery, great people, glad to hear it is making progress.

Re: Potohar Town to have solar energy streetlights

Well, these are not calculators or small lights. High-powered street lights are much more expensive, especially when you factor in changing the battery packs which are not cheap to replace. And then the solar panels can also be damaged if not taken care of. It’s not a fixed cost.

Re: Potohar Town to have solar energy streetlights

The guy who spearheads these projects is one heck of a guy, his name is Dr. Brig Naseem Akhter I believe, and he was the head of Solar Engineering Dept at E&ME College NUST, RWP, which is the nations best engineering college.

There is also a park Rawalpindi which is completely solar lit, and has been around for over 5 years now, and has had no problems whatsoever. This guy knows what hes doing.
