List some dishes that can be taken to a potluck which can also be made in advance and will be a crowd pleaser!
Also, what is the general rule of thumb for quantity for a potluck dish? How much should you be making?
I was thinking of a taco dip or mac salad?

Let host decide your quantity. If yours is one of the primary dish then better take for 70%. If it's one of the sides or appetizers or sweet dish, then for 40% provided that others are also bringing some sides or appetizers

Pasta salads work well, as well as potato salad, macaroni salad....even spinach dip

U want to take main course or sidr dish? Take cutleys, kababs or pasta.

Pasta salads or some pasta dish. Cutlets...they can be made from potatoes or meat or a combo.

I ended up taking a mac salad I made...experimented with some stuff I had at home but it ended up being really good!
