POTC 2: Captain Jacks back!

Re: POTC 2: Captain Jacks back!

I just saw it, and I liked it.

The tone, however, was markedly, markedly different. There were some gags, and some of them worked, but there was an overall sense from the beginning that this wasn't going to be all happy-happy joy-joy. I didn't realize it was going to be the first of a two-parter, and so I sat there for 2 1/2 hours thinking the pacing was really weird and things had better start wrapping up. I don't mind that, really, and I'd rather walk into a film ignorant of the nature of its ending and wade through the resultant pacing than know beforehand of a cliffhanger.

Characters actually did stuff and made decisions and things happened. The cannibal subplot was ultimately just a subplot, but if nothing else it did answer the question of who Jack was talking about in that throwaway line in the first film.

I didn't see Elizabeth's actions towards Jack coming. That was a bit of a surprise. But part of me is glad she did it--a character actually doing something different! What with all the nods and reprises of the original film it was nice to see someone lay down new ground for herself. Same with Norrington, although his actions were more foreseeable. Will gets to be all nice and forgiving towards his father, and while it's not necessarily to type, it was the least unexpected.

So apparently Davy Jones and Tia Dalma share a locket. Just how old is she supposed to be?

The more I think about it, the more I like the film and the more I want to see it again and think about what's going on.

Absolutely fantastic !!!

Jack Sparrow was unbelievable. Orlando Bloom

I cannot wait for the next one to arrive !!!

Re: POTC 2: Captain Jacks back!

Tia Dalma is Davy Jone’s lover? Who broke his heart?

I dozed off halfway through the movie. It's true. Could be because we caught the last show around midnight, but I seriously doubt it. This movie doesn't even come close to the brilliance of the first one. Big disappointment.
