Given that (at this moment in time) 52 people have viewed this thread but nobody has contributed it suggests that people don't know what a potato puff is. Unless it has another name in the UK, I personally haven't come across a potato puff either.

they are like small cheese potato balls. you make it like pakorras. I don't know whether it includes cheese in it or not but it does taste like crispy cheese balls

Oh ok, definitely never heard of them in that case. Have you tried google for a recipe? If I can't find a recipe for something I want to eat and I know what goes in to it, I usually just make it and guesstimate quantities.

I have tried google for the recipe randomly because I was sure that I will find much easy and 'tried' recipe from GS but if noone has come across this recipe then I will google it.

Are they like mashed potatoes mixed with egg yolk and whisked white and salt and things and then deep fried?....or piped onto baking trays and baked?...can't think what else they can be.

If you type in “potato puffs” and do a google images search…you’ll get a variety of things such as aloo tikiya, potato cutlets/pancakes, etc.
If you be more specific and type in “potato cheese balls”…you might get something similar to what you want. I have not personally tried these recipes and I don’t know if they are what you had in mind, but this is what I’ve found by typing “potato cheese balls.” Take a look. The first two links in the list contain more desi flavors.

Potato Puffs
Ingredients:
Potatoes: 2 medium boiled&mashed
Maida :1/2 cup
Butter :150gm
Eggs :2
Water :1/2cup
Redpepper:1/4tsp
Salt :1/2tsp
Bakingsoda: 1/2tsp
Oil :for deep frying
Procedure:
Put butter and water in saucepan for heat till butter melt and water doesn't
boil.Then off the flame pour maida and mix it, and then put the saucepan on
heat till then maida leave the saucepan then cool it. When it cool mix with
mash potatoes and also all the dry ingredients and eggs. Its just like
pakora mixture. Pre heat oil and deep fry it in medium flame till brown.
Serve it hot with tomato ketchup.

Potato Balls by Farah Jahanzeb
5 potatoes boiled and mashed
cheddar cheese 100 g grated
2 tbsp butter
1 tsp black pepper
salt 1 tsp
chopped fresh parsley (optional)
eggs as required
bread crumbs as required
mix together potatoes, cheese, butter, salt and black pepper.
make balls
roll in beaten eggs then in bread crumbs and deep fry

i thought she meant potatoes in puff pastry??
