Posts Deleted/Split from Very essential question which needs clarification

May i add my two cents, this is just like old times, i thought things would have changed here but still i see certain forum moderators are morphed in stealth mode and wrapped in silk. User MM on religion forum deleted one of my replies in ‘Shia’s walking on coal topic’ and i wasn’t given a reason but a statement has been added by him/her addressing everybody. If a member has a problem with a topic or post they should flag it right? Instead of a moderator making a judgement as they felt it was inapproptiate! I recently replied again to that topic and my second reply was edited as i, and i quote: “was being judgemental.” My sentence which was edited was: “if islam allowed it then we would all do it, no?” I asked a genuine question.

EDIT: User MM has just sent me a message saying i removed your posts.

EDIT: User MM and i have exchanged 2 messages each over this topic now.

EDIT: I didn’t write very essential question in subject field

Re: Posts Deleted/Split from Very essential question which needs clarification

I'm confused with all your edit notes. If you've spoken to MM, are you satisfied with her explanation as to why your post was removed or are you still looking for clarification?

Re: Posts Deleted/Split from Very essential question which needs clarification

With regards to this comment, it is in fact a moderator's responsibility to make a sound judgement and take the necessary if they feel something is questionable. They do not rely solely on members flagging posts.

Re: Posts Deleted/Split from Very essential question which needs clarification

I am not satisfied with MM's explanation as it was illogical. I am entitled to ask a question (which i did) and in return i am told i am being judgemental. My intention was not to create a fuss but to raise a point against this harsh moderation by MM. You may close this topic, I don't think we will get anywhere. Regards.

Re: Posts Deleted/Split from Very essential question which needs clarification

Yes, you have every right to ask a question but if the moderator felt that your question could have offended the other sects then she was also right in removing the post. Her intention was not to single you out but to avoid any sectarian conflict that could've arisen as a result of your post. Moderators have seen such conflicts happen in the past so they are a lot more vigilant now. I'm sure you understand why the Religion forum has to be strictly monitored as it is one of the most volatile forums on GS. There is a reason why we don't allow any discussions on the Ahmadi sect, for example. What I'm trying to say is that some questions/comments/discussions never lead to any good and so moderators are advised to filter them out. Hope you understand.
