Postponement of Elections

Considering the way the law and order of the situation of the country, its a real possibility that the polls could be delayed which would have dangerous repercussions for the country. It plays into favour of terrorists as they thrive in political vaccum. 21 Levies personnel were killed in Peshawar today, around 20 people have been killed in Mastung, Balochistan and around 10-20 people are being killed in Karachi daily. What do you guys think?

Balochistan,Karachi and around Peshawar, death rules supreme. If the trend continues, elections might become doubtful.

Re: Delay in Polls

Are they have some magic lamp to make peace and end of violence/terrorism with a specific period and announce new schedule? The things not gonna change in a sudden and we have to go through in this process in this situation. The late of elections cause some others problems which are might be dangerous for our shaking democracy.

^ For the writ of the government!

Re: Delay in Polls

Thats why they have been thriving since last 10 years, there is no leadership, no action, no will against the terrorists, this government is a sham only occupying seats for immunity as well as monetary benefits.

Re: Delay in Polls

Delay in Election will lead to more destructive. Only hope for Pakistan is a government with public mandate . No problem who wins .

Stage is being set for postponement of elections,Technocrats Govt-Wake up PML (N)!

Re: Postponement of Polls

This is very very serious .
Time for Pakistan’s political parties to save Pakistan from these adventurists . This is the biggest attack on Pakistan during last five years .

Re: Postponement of Elections

Its the ideal time for the enemies of democracy, as PPP and PMLN have lost credibility and the media has been degrading PTI for the past many months. I dont think any one could stop this now if its really in the offing.

Re: Postponement of Elections

You are not right here . We should be realistic .PML N was leading in Punjab specially central and northern Punjab . Establishment and US are not happy with NS . Ik and his PTI is not like past and it was sure that they would have to join any collation and being a permanent critic of Ik , I have never doubted his affiliation with Pakistan so he is too not fit for US , They don't want to see PPP ruling any more . They wanted some one like Shaukat Aziz .

Re: Postponement of Elections

Establishment has played its cards very cleverly this time, in the 80's and 90's they didnt allow the governments to complete their tenure and that'd give the political parties some benefit of doubt. This time in spite of the temptations they have allowed the government to complete its tenure. With no tangible difference to their lives (both on the federal as well as provincial levels), people started looking towards PTI and there the media was used to cause confusions regarding that party. Despair has increased exponentially and the end result is vague. Some one else has joined the fray, will he eat the pie?

Re: Postponement of Elections

You are not right again .
Imran was popular but but he was derailed by establishment by giving him support and filling his party with Lotays . After that he lost his credibility in public eyes . But we are going off the topic . Imran will also loose much in case of delay in election .

Re: Postponement of Elections

What ever the case, is any party credible enough now to launch a successful campaign against such a measure if undertaken?

Re: Postponement of Elections

It depends upon Nawaz ,Imran ,and Zardari .
Also Wali , Fazal , Achakzai and Baluch leaders .
Altaf has gone with establishment as usual .
Establishment is not powerful enough now a days to play this open drama in case of strong resistance by political parties even US can not come openly .

Re: Postponement of Elections

There is no love lost between Zardari and Nawaz (at least openly. What happens behind closed doors I don't want to speculate). And then the situation between PTI and PMLN is infront of every one (the Movie scandal and Muhammad Asif's outburst against Shaukat Khanum).

Re: Postponement of Elections

No one is angel here . There is nothing serious among them all .
Important thing is role of US and its permanent puppets . Remember the day in 60s when China defeated India badly and asked Pakistan to enter in Kashmir but our ruling general denied and even offered India , the joint defense .

Re: Postponement of Elections

Election should be on time else so called caretaker's ll take us back to the era from where we struggled for Democracy.

Re: Postponement of Elections

But we don’t have stuff for that struggle
Our leaders are aged .

Re: Postponement of Elections

Hmm, Nawaz Sharif is very old. Didn't know that he was touching almost 70 now. Pervaiz Illahi 67??

Re: Postponement of Elections

It is just a drama . Hope it will be failed as previous dramas during last five year , You can call it
Baba Gate

Re: Postponement of Elections

What I dont understand is the level of public infatuation with conspiracy theories, and how everything is attributed to the 'establishment'.

For one, establishment/agencies can perhaps rig elections by adding fake votes in favor of one or the other, but they cannot actually make the public vote for one or the other. And the public is not so naive that they would be hypnotized by the message of a party propped up by this elusive 'establishment'. If I support PTI, it doesnt mean that the ISI came to my house to brainwash me into it.

The issue is, the writing is on the wall. Status quo is dead. It is not a 2 party system any more. Even though one of these 2 parties may still end up having a PM after the next election, but that PM will be heavily dependent on allies, and will be on extremely shaky ground.
PPP has lost MQM, and may also lose PMLQ. While they may find a way to retain their alliance, it will be very very shaky.
PML-N is the other half of the status quo, and people have not forgotten their grand escape to Jeddah.

I doubt it the elections would be postponed, as that would bring widespread anarchy to the already beleaguered country. So its very likely that the elections will be on time. Just that the subsequent government will be a surprise. I dont think the armed forces at this stage have any further interest in being involved in the governmental setup.
