Re: Postnatal Depression
first of all you have to get accessed by a dr to know how serious it is.
i had it but not so bad... just crying fits and some anxiety attacks. the only solution that worked for me was leaving the baby with the in laws and going out with the husband alone. just for 30 mins each time.. but it gave me some time to be in a baby free environment.
i remember the actual cry of the baby could send me into a fit of depression and anxiety... it cant be explained .. the feeling.... but it was like my whole life had been turned upside down.. i didnt have the lovey dovey start up to motherhood and that in itself was depressing.
also... support.. whatever you can get. this is not the time to be self sacrificing.. whatever help you can get.. you should take it. spousal support should be maximal at this point.. communication is even more important... especialy when you are a first time mom... you should voice out every thought to ure spouse or whoever that can offer you support...
for me it was being alone with only the husband... going out.... taking a shower everyday, being in a bright quiet room... that helped me get over my depression.. oh and doing atleast ONE thing that reminds you of your pre parent life. just so you feel like you havent let yourself go totally.
