Post War Iraq

So what happens after the war? The “imperialist” powers are already wrangling over who gets to control Iraq.

Chirac warns on ‘post-war’ plans

Who cares for UN?

This is precious:

“French President Jacques Chirac has warned he will not accept any UN resolution allowing the United States and Britain to administer post-war Iraq.”
:rotfl:

This makes sense to me....

Mr Chirac said France would reject any moves that "would legitimise the military intervention and would give the belligerents the powers to administer Iraq".

Good for him.

Is Chirac’s veto because of the French public opposition, French oil interest or because of his own personal character of peace & his care to defend the sovereignty of Iraq?

Or do we really don't care ...?

I don't think that the veto is because of Chirac's "own personal character of peace & his care to defend the sovereignty of Iraq". It would be nice if it were but I don't know much about him.

As to the public opposition in France, I don't think that is the reason either because we have examples in UK and Spain. Again I don't know how the French public and its rulers have reacted to other wars.

The French oil interests seem to be the key. I suppose when the leaders of US, UK, France and Russia were discussing Iraq last year, the French and the Russians thought they would loose rather than gain in the post-war Iraq.

Why are you question Chiracs position. Why dont you question the same way around?
Why do Brits and the Amis have their post-war plans already on the table?

Do YOU really care or dont yOU?

Doesnt surprise me at all.
Skipping sides here is very common.
Although the question is: DO I really care?
