just have a high fiber diet so that she doesnt get constipation.. she doesnt need to push or put anymore strain to her lower end of the body than she already has

definitely yakhni and mum also made me 'chaas' suji ka halwa but very liquidy,
i did not eat any solid foods for days as my digestive system was going crazy
make sure she drinks plenty...congrtas on becoming a khala :)
Ami made panjeeri for me. I don't know everything that is in it, but it's like raisins, almonds, semolina, ghee, some sort of gum, etc. Each item is separately roasted and then mixed together. It's quite yummy and supposed to help you build your strength back.
My mom mad something like this as well for my cousin after she delivered her baby. It basically looked like halwa. Is that what panjeeri looks like? If so, I didn't know that it was called that.
I did some research and found a list of websites that tell you recommended foods for nursing mothers. As well as a list of foods that you should avoid eating.
Recommended foods:
high fiber whole grains and cereals/pastas
fruits and veggies (5 portions of fruits and veggies daily)
foods containing plenty of protein, calcium, and iron
Keep well hydrated
I've heard a couple of new moms mention soup. You can add chicken and veggies to it. Don't make it spicy. And it's not fattening. Baked sweet potato contains a lot of fiber and is jam packed with nutrients. Try yogurt with fruit. Salads. Hard boiled eggs.
It's good to eat low-fat and healthy. I think you need about 500 extra calories if you're breastfeeding.
I also read to be careful about nuts (peanuts, for example) because babies might allergic to that.
