POST NAVAL BASE ATTACK: SECURITY FORCES PULL UP THEIR SOCKS

LAHORE: For the first time ever in Pakistan, the Lahore Police, Pakistan Rangers and the Army have decided to hold joint counter terrorism exercises.
A high-level meeting was held at the Capital City Police office today which was attended by top officials from several law enforcement agencies.
The participants shared their views and suggestions about the present security situation, particularly post **Karachi Naval Base attack](Navy says PNS base under control after attack).**

Improving overall defence

Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani chaired a meeting of the Defence Cabinet Committee (DCC) on Wednesday to assess the overall security situation in the country.
Sources said the DCC meeting was attended by the services and intelligence chiefs as well as defence, interior, finance and information ministers.

At the commencement of the meeting on Wednesday, Interior Minister Rehman Malik briefed the members present on the preliminary report of the PNS Mehran base attack.
Sources present at the meeting said that Prime Minister Gilani was concerned about the security lapse at the base and its vehement denial by the security agencies, in particular by the PR Directors of Navy and Airforce.
Gilani directed Malik to conduct a detailed inquiry on the PNS Mehran attack.

The PM was forthcoming on the purpose of the meeting which was to discuss the PNS Mehran attack and ordered all the security/intelligence agencies as well as the three chiefs of the armed forces to brief him on how the militants were able to carry out such raids on military installations in recent years.
Gilani discussed national security issues with the generals present, including DG ISI Pasha. The generals in turn briefed the PM and others present on the security measures taken to safeguard sensitive military installations across the country.

The navy chief is yet to present his detailed report on the PNS Mehran attack, since the navy has formulated a special committee headed by a rear admiral to probe into the security lapse on May 22 .
The PM also reviewed the lapse on the opposite side of the railway track running alongside the base.
Gilani said the PNS Mehran inquiry report will be made public.
The US raid of May 2 will be discussed as well during the meeting.

Re: POST NAVAL BASE ATTACK: SECURITY FORCES PULL UP THEIR SOCKS

First time ... wow.

Why we learn all the lessons after so much damage. Bloody idiots.

Re: POST NAVAL BASE ATTACK: SECURITY FORCES PULL UP THEIR SOCKS

A step in right direction.

East or west, POLICE is always every country's first line of defense against internal incidents and unfortunately, Pakistan police is the last one to be allowed to visit the place of incident. For this they have no one else but them selves to blame. They capability to act against such incidents is next to null. Although different governments are also culprit in ignoring this fact but POLICE is not even using whatever resources they have. I really doubt their abilities to fight against any terrorists and to scientifically investigate any such case. AS of this moment, their abilities are restricted to catching choor, uchekkey and unarm begunah people for rishwat khori.

Joint exercises? Instead we need more of information sharing.

Re: POST NAVAL BASE ATTACK: SECURITY FORCES PULL UP THEIR SOCKS

I wish them best of luck. But mark my words that until and unless our spy agencies pull their socks, nothing much can happen.

Remember, making forces strong means being able to repulse attacks. Making intelligence strong means nipping them in the bud. Instead of awaiting them at our doorsteps, why not go to their own backyard and destroy them then and their.

As it seems that they have infiltrated our security forces, why we cannot penetrate their ranks?

Re: POST NAVAL BASE ATTACK: SECURITY FORCES PULL UP THEIR SOCKS

Joint exercises? When half of them are playing the double game - ie getting money from the world on one side, and continuing to show 'selective sympathy' to the extremists who they think are 'friendly' to them?

Give me a break.

What the idiots in the army and ISI dont understand is that this is no longer the 80's - now the whole world including many Pakistanis are smart enough to understand who is supporting who. Are you telling me that the Pakistani army, one of the largest in the world, could not launch operations against the jihadis and terrorists and close down their offices across the country if they did not want too?

Theres a sucker born every minute but even he/she would have a hard time believing that B.S.

Until and unless the army is willing to put 100% effort in eliminating ALL jihadis and terrorists from Pakistan - NOTHING will improve.

Pakistan will just end up as another Afghanistan, minus the nuclear weapons which will be taken out soon by the Americans, unless we change our ways.

The ISI, the army, and to a lesser extent the corrupt and jahil politicians have systematically destroyed our country to the extent that we are where we are today.
