Most films today are being adapted from other stuff such as novels, television dramas, poetry, comics etc…and they seem to be really successful.
What would be ur choice of drama, foreign film or literature that can make a really good pakistani film? Would it be a shakespeare play such as Bollywood’s ‘Omkara’ or simply some form of poetry…Syed Noor based* ‘Majajan’* on Bulle Shah’s poem???
How about ‘Veena’ or ‘Yeh Zindagi Hai’ as a film??? Give the reason too.
its totally ur choice!!!
I think we should make a movie based on the novel Les Miserables by Victor Hugo. I think it will be well suited to the current political and social environment of the country, off course we will need to adjust the story to fit the culture and location better. Also we can make a movie on The Catcher in the Rye that will appeal to youngsters.
Re: Possible Pakistan Film Adaptations
The Catcher in the Rye would b reli gud for adaptation!
Hmmmmm.....i tink telefilms that are reli appreciated can be given film treatment. something like 'Burns Road Ki Nilofer'.
why you dont like the catcher in the rye or something???
Re: Possible Pakistan Film Adaptations
I said it would be** 'reli gud'** for a pakistani film. Films targeted at younger audiences are hardly made in pakistan
Re: Possible Pakistan Film Adaptations
I think if you look at the kind of cinema which has been historically made in Pakistan, excluding the last 10 or so years, has always been focused oon social/family themes. They peppered social-themed storylines with pretty sweet music and the formula seemed to work till Gundaasa cinema took over. Such films can still work, a fairly recent example being Shaan's Mujhe Chand Chahiye. I'd love to see films such as Match Point and Atonement on the Pakistan screen. These films revolve around family based setups and would fit pretty well in a Pakistani setup.

Re: Possible Pakistan Film Adaptations
Its no problem rari389...
Gosford Park.....now that definitely has a family theme plus its a whodunnit mystery drama. One thing iv noticed that u dont need a massive budget for films with family themes as they require little locations, hardly any songs.
