Possible Diet for PreMature Baby ?

Saad Anwar Our first baby birth took place , when his Mother (My wife ) complained very high Blood Pressure at 32nd week of her pregnancy , Her B.P was not controlled and was ultimately scissored for delivery as the fatus heartbeat was about to cease.

When he born his weight was 1.18kg (Normally it is 3.5Kg or more even) , hence he was Taken for Intensive care by NICU in Corniche Hospital Abu Dhabi.

He remained for 29 days in Incobator when he got weight of 1.8 Kg.

Saad is Alham Du Lillah 4 Months and 27 days old now and his Weight is Masha Allah 4.67Kg , He now can make baby talking , seeing around , response to talks , Laughs etc.

Last day we took him for third Vacination and he was examined by Doctor prior vacination and was found Sound and well.

The Doctor recommended us that as He is now 5 Months so you people can give him other items like rice etc (Can we proceed for this , for being Premature baby and Under weight?).

We are New and also having little consultation from Elders for being abroad , I think Here at G.S we have BERY BERY GOOD PEOPLE to advise us regarding our baby feeding (and this Lucky Baby has always suffient milk , Masha Allah).

Re: Possible Diet for PreMature Baby ?

Congratulations on your little one! May he always be blessed with good health!

If his docs think he's ready to try some baby cereals, then give it a try! Start very slowly, get one of those infant spoons that are really tiny and try maybe 2 spoonfuls. Do this for a couple of days to see how it goes. If it upsets his tummy then discontinue and try again in a couple of weeks. If it goes well, increase to 3 or 4 spoonfulls.

Best of luck!

Re: Possible Diet for PreMature Baby ?

congratz!

I was premature baby too :D

Thanks for your best wishes ,

May I know the weight of your baby , as our baby is now only 4.67Kg on completion of his 5 Months.

Does his weight matters in feedings ?

Thank you very much .......
Yes , we will proceed for this Insha Allah.

Thank you HNK...........

We(The Parants) were encouraged When we saw many Photographs of Premature babies/Children on the Notice board of NICU with tag of their Birth time weight , who were cared in NICU.

They were also celebrating some annual day for all those children who were brought up for some time there.

It gives a bit satisfaction to parants.

Re: Possible Diet for PreMature Baby ?

my son is now almost 12kg but i dnt think weight matters because all babies are diferent, if ur doctor says u can feed him then y not go ahead give it a try but dont give him egg or any nut products just yet as they can cause allergies

Re: Possible Diet for PreMature Baby ?

engrshami,
I dont think the weight matters too much in feeeing, its more important that their digestive system is mature enough to process food. My son wasnt premature but he was very tiny, I think even smaller at 5 months than yours if I remember right.

But if you start really slowly with food, you should be able to tell pretty quickly if he's ready for it. The worst thing that would happen is that his body isnt ready so he gets constipated. This can be uncomfortable for baby but isnt dangerous. My son was always constipated! It helped him when I put a warm towel on his belly or gave it a light massage. But hopefully, all will go well and what goes in will come out!

Let us know how it goes!

Re: Possible Diet for PreMature Baby ?

Usually weaning, i,e starting food apart from breastfeeding OR bottlefeeding is started at the age of 4 to six months. Say average 5 months age. Start with little soft food, may be rice cerelac and increase the amount gradually and then adding different things like Banana, juices at six to seven months....... A one year old should be able to eat everything cooked at home.
