It’s natural to be possessive about things you love.

I think in a relationship a little amount of possessiveness/protectiveness shows you care but when it turns psychotic and controlling then that’s not cool.

But giving them freedom is real love. I was eavesdropping when my wife was talking about me with her friend and I am thinking she will tell her how I treat her so well, help around the house etc and you know what she said she admires most about me is that I let her do whatever she pleases. Same thing I admire about her. Possessiveness leads to ugliness.
