what a damper. there is no substitute for a real fire place.

a direct vent gas fireplace, cleaner, more heat, less buildup and chimney issues..good flame, and dem ceramic logs are realistic.

plus u dont have to kill trees to get wood

^^We have a that vent free ceramic log fireplace, I think apart form one or two times we have never ever used it...one reason that after the home;s warranty expired, we realized much later that it doesnt turn on...I dont know why..but too much hassle to have it fixed..eventhough it worked when the realtor showed it...then again maybe we dont know how to start it properly

ps. buy artificial log set :o and get the real flames and a crackling sound similar to wood-burning fires and its also not messy. :smiley:

idea is neat, per her cheez main technology :bummer:

that would be equivalent t this

PS: get an artificial log set, its not messy and gives a similar experience as a wood fireplace.

wood fire paces get used even less by most ppl.
btw a gas fioreplace is a simple item its either your gas valves or spark, the system is set in a way that if there is an issue it will not turn on but its very cheap to fix, and does not require major repairs

Is it...I know I donot hear the sound of anything as I had tried turning on the ignition button(hopefully its the right word). Nohing happens. I guess I need to go to the local Lowe's and ask around. A fireplace does saves on the heating bill tremendously.

lowes may direct u to a hvac place that also services fireplaces.
i would advise against doing this as a DIY project.
it should nto be more than a few hundred to get it fixed.
if a part is damaged, then they may have to get a part, but they are not too expensive either
