@the_kaur

Hanuman is 11th avatar of Bhagwan shiv, Amarnath is a place where Bhagwan Shiv gave DivyaBrahmgyan to Mata Parvati, she slept while listening to it but a rishi who was cursed to become a pigeon listened it, this is the place where Shivling of snow appears every year and then disappears in summer. It is called Amarnath Shrine.

DivyaBrahmgyan? Ok, google told me about Amarkatha "the mystery behind immorality’ related to this cave and it says a pair of pigeon heard that and they become immortal.

So the reason behind the importance of Kashmir is of religious nature. One other reason for importance could be the rivers of Kashmir.
