I don't think you have to be completely "aligned" with somebody in order to agree with them about something.
I agree that the pope is going to have completely different views about certain things from a muslim, but that doesn't mean that he wouldn't be willing to listen- and to agree with other things that a muslim has to say (and vice versa).

When the pope suggests that Islam in Europe is something to fear, it's not just an expression of bemusement of how "quack" we Muslims are, nor does it lend itself to a simple disagreement on a particular issue.
It's something a bit more ominous than that.

From what I understood, it's a general fear of Islam's influence in Europe. This will be consistent with the Pope's opposition to Turkey's entry into the EU.

If some small time Muslim says that our values are being undermined by westernisation, he is quickly labelled a jahil, extremist, fundamentalist and not paid second heed...
But if the spiritual leader of the biggest sect in religion proclaims that their part of the world is threatened by another religion, he is taken in earnest...

The Reason is that most European Muslims are some of the most extremist, uneducated, unassimilated, unwelcome people on the planet.
they keep illegally migrating to europe to find jobs, but when they cant find jobs, they go on welfare and curse the state and turn to extremism.....

I'm not sure that my definition of extremism is what matters. What I would like to know is what the pope's definition of extremism is- and I'm under the impression that he doesn't really specify, even though its fairly easy to assume that its anything going against westernized thought (but lots of bad decisions are made based on assumptions).
From a religious point of view, it makes sense that the pope wouldn't want many Muslims in Europe- it would threaten "his" territory ;)

I read the story you linked to and I heard the 4 minute interview with it. Honestly I wouldn’t expect to hear anything different from a pope and it doesn’t bother me in the least.
