Not sure if this one’s been posted before, as I couldn’t find it in the thread:

During a speech Tuesday at the University of Regensburg, in Bavaria, Germany, the Pope quoted 14th century Byzantine Emperor Manuel II Palaeologus.

"He said [the pope], I quote, ‘Show me just what Muhammad brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached,’ " Benedict quoted the emperor as saying.

I’m not sure how much of it is taken out of context or in context, the quotation that he shared is certainly disturbing.

I just hope Muslims don’t go haywire with the usual of burning flags, effigies, and buildings. I’m sure there are better ways of getting the message across.
