Re: ~! Pope Apologizes.

very well said :k:
him apologizing really doesn’t make a difference, becoz his thoughts and feelings haven’t changed. but i’m still glad he appologized. and yes i think the irony is horrible, y do Muslims get caught up in the moment and let their tempers get the best of them? to protest that our religion is peaceful we firebomb churches? wat kind of example is that? :frowning: sad..

the world is a very unfair place and it is just a bad bad time for Muslims, kaffirs will have their time too I’m sure…esp the ones that have created so much destruction and r the cause of so many innocent lives resulting in death. :flower1: May Allah save us all from the wrong path and guide us to only the Islamic and right path. May He help us set a good example and help us portray Islam in only it’s true and correct light.

Re: ~! Pope Apologizes.

lekin main pakistani nahin hoon:D

Re: ~! Pope Apologizes.

An apology means nothing...he meant what he said so the damage is done...
What i dont understand is why anyone cares...the pope hates Islam big deal...doesnt the whole world think what he thinks...why should we single him out for speaking his mind...

Re: ~! Pope Apologizes.

did he apologize or just "regret it"

?

Re: ~! Pope Apologizes.

I think it’s pretty obvious that mullahs just need an excuse to cause violence. Most of them don’t even know what the Pope actually said.

What’s shameful is the over-reaction of the Pakistani parliament and foreign ministry.

Re: ~! Pope Apologizes.

:k:

Re: ~! Pope Apologizes.

Regardless of whats in his mind - he apologized publicaly so we better accept it.

MPAC CONDEMNS MURDER OF NUN, WELCOMES POPE’S APOLOGY

(Los Angeles - 9/17/06) – The Muslim Public Affairs Council today condemned the murder of an Italian nun in Somalia, which reportedly took place as a result of Pope Benedict XVI’s remarks on Islam last week. MPAC also welcomed the apology offered by the Pope today, in which he said that he was “deeply sorry” about the angry reaction to his recent remarks about Islam, which he said came from a text that did not reflect his personal opinion
Pope Benedict sparked the controversy when, in a speech Tuesday to university professors in his native Germany, he cited the words of a 14th century Byzantine emperor who characterized some of the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad as “evil and inhuman.” On Sunday, he stressed the words “were in fact a quotation from a medieval text which do not in any way express my personal thought.”
The Italian nun was shot in the back in the Somali capital of Mogadishu by two gunmen. The nun’s bodyguard and a hospital worker were also killed, doctors said. In the West Bank, two churches were set on fire. MPAC unequivocally condemns any violence in response to the Pope’s remarks as being antithetical to the teachings of Islam.

On Friday, MPAC reached out to American Catholic leaders urging them to convene a dialogue between Catholic and Muslim leaders. In a letter to Cardinal Roger Mahoney of the Los Angeles Archdioces, MPAC Executive Director Salam Al-Marayati and Senior Advisor Dr. Maher Hathout, stressed the need for the Vatican and Catholic leaders to clarify and explain the remarks. The letter states in part:

“In this spirit of dialogue and understanding that we continue to further, we would like to call for a meeting and dialogue regarding the recent comments made by Pope Benedict XVI. We do not want to allow for those individuals who call for divisiveness at such volatile times to speak on behalf of our communities. We pray that our continued dialogue will bear fruit and that this issue will be clarified in the most appropriate manner.”

MPAC representatives appeared on national news programs on Friday to respond to the Pope’s remarks.

Re: ~! Pope Apologizes.

And what about the pope. What was his message? Love for Muslims???:hoonh:

Re: ~! Pope Apologizes.

OK, his remarks were idiotic. But everyone is talking about him as though he were just some political figure. Guess what you forgot: he is also the leader of another religion. Do people expect him to praise his competition?? Do you hear many mullahs saying good things about Judaism and Hinduism and Christianity? Guess why not.

Anyway his remarks were completely stupid and so is the reaction. Now some British nutcase is demanding his execution! This is the lamest development yet in a very very lame series of events.

Re: ~! Pope Apologizes.

The matter is anything but settled. Contrary to media headlines the pop has not apologized for what he's said, he was just sorry for the reactions that were caused...a kind of apology similar to what the Danish newspapers gave. And muslims around the world are just happy, the word "sorry" emerged from his mouth....and they want the issue to be done with.

There is a clear difference between saying, Iam sorry for what i said/did, and iam sorry for the reactions that occured 'cause of what i said.

Re: ~! Pope Apologizes.

^^Exactly...and why the freck did the pompous Pope, quote the medieval warlord when he did not share his views....

The root of the matter is that the establishment in the western world, in particular the Church are scared $hit of dwindling church attendances and increased conversion to islam in the western world...and they have to resort to orientalist polemics and outright vicious and egregious attacks on Islam to discredit it...

Re: ~! Pope Apologizes.

^ Well, people can quote others when they don’t agree with their opinion, if only to explain their disagreement and to rationalize their position. Pope did nothing of the sort when he made that infamous speech in Germany. Not only did he not say that he disagrees with the comment, rather the thrust of his speech was that christianity is a reasonable faith where they have never spread it through sword, while Islam, on the other hand, is “evil and inhumane” and is spread through sword.

Re: Pope’s apology, I agree with Sharaabi that Pope is not apologizing for his comments, but has apologized for the reaction to his comments. One could almost interpret the so-called apology to mean that Pope is apologizing to christians because of the backlash being displayed in muslim countries. If I recall correctly, at least one christian nun was killed and several churches are attacked in various parts of Middle East etc. I think this kind of violent reaction by well-meaning though misguided muslims is definitely not what we need in these situations.

One good thing, albeit small, that the Pope did include in his “apology” was he clarified that the quote in his speech includes views that he (Pope) does not share. Now that leaves the question open as to what the heck does the Pope really believe in. Does he believe that Islam is evil and inhumane and is spread by sword, or does he believe in something else.

Karen Armstrong’s article in Guardian is an well-written piece that should be read by everyone who is interested in this issue. You can find it at

Re: ~! Pope Apologizes.

Leave the pope alone. He is a man of God. He only sayeth what his Lord asketh him.

Re: ~! Pope Apologizes.

Send pope to crescent…:cb: he has forgotten the lessons:D

Re: ~! Pope Apologizes.

I don't understand? Why doesn't the world ask Bush, Blair, Putin, etc for apologies? Why just the pope?

No matter how much he apologizes what he conceals in the heart will remain the same!!

Screw it! And Revive your religion before its too late!

Re: ~! Pope Apologizes.

your whole post is so true........ but we have recently seen this sentence in action during the publication of those stupid cartoons. If u saw the evening news back then, it was all full of how muslims are acting and how wrong it was. the real issue was fogotten because of the childish response by alot of muslims.

I believe that the problem with most of us muslims is that we are too emotional about our religion. I am in no way suggesting that we should not feel hurt when our religion or Prophet(PBUH) is attacked, i am merly suggesting that we should try to display our emotions in a reasonable manner and tell people what the true teaching of Islam is. Actions speak louder than words and when someone says that islam is a violent religion and muslims go around their own countries destroying their own property, it just confirms the accusation.

I challange anyone says that they love the Prophet (PBUH) or Islam more than the Sahaba (may Allah be please with them all). Yet the Prophet (PBUH) was rediculed infront of them for 13 years. Did they go around killing any meccan who rediculed the Prophet(PBUH)? did they go around burning other ppl's houses? The ppl of Ta'if were so cruel to him that they threw rocks at him until his shoes were full of blood and when God sent an angel asking whether we should destroy these ppl what did he do? He prayed for them saying that they do not understand.

Most ppl in today's world also don't understand, and it is our job to tell them the true teachings of islam. I give u an example. My little sister told me the other day that her friend wants to learn about islam and keeps asking her questions. One of the questions she asked was that hindus don't eat the cow because they believe cow to be their god, do muslims not eat pork because they consider it to be a god? Now wot should the response to a question like this be? this is how ignorent a majority of people are in the west and they are getting most of their information about islam through these protests and death threaths.

Doesn't God care about this religion? we should inform ppl of the real teachings in case they make these accusations because of ignorance. If they do it on purpose then God is sufficient to deal with them. Peaceful protests are fine but destroying anyone's property and issuing death threats just paint the wrong picture.

Re: ~! Pope Apologizes.

so did pope apologize for his comments or the reaction they caused...think it thru.

Re: ~! Pope Apologizes.
