She started her career from PTV Lahore and was of the last batch of actors that underwent thorough training from their seniors and the famed PTV producers. She later went to films and had moderate success. Now she is back at TV but is unable to gain any strong footing with the viewers. Her age (I guess she is around 40) and average looks are a major hurdle for her. Poor Resham!

Resham has gained popularity in TV for her role in Man O Salwa drama, she recently earned critical acclaim for her lead role in Muthi Bhar Chawal (adapted from Sangeeta's film)...she has had 2 LSA nominations and has a strong chance of winning this year.
To cap it all, Resham was recently a judge on Hero Bannay Ki Tarang which had a large viewership.

You didn't get my point. She has worked in some dramas but failed to achieve any fame. You can say critical fame but not a massive popularity like other heroins of TV. By the way, that filmi show was not a massive hit -- in fact, it was pretty average with judges like Rambo and Syed Noor. They could have used Samina Peerzada, S.Suleman and Nadeem. It was a relatively low class show that might have become popular in Punjab but not all over Pakistan.

Sheyraz is spot on that Resham was one of the last few trained actors coming out of PTV. She went on to become a major star in the Lahore industry, in large part due to the string of commercially succesful films she starred in that were mostly directed by Syed Noor. Talking about stuff like Jeeva, Ghoongat, Duppata Jalta Raha etc. here. She brought a certain amount of decency to the seriously tacky Lahore industry, coz her Urdu diction was correct and she didn't wiggle the way the rest were. The fact that she was exposed to the fashion and television industry helped.
Then Noor got into his Saima obsession phase (that lasts to this day, sadly) and all the other actresses were sidelined. Post Noor's Choorian the Punjabi-film culture took over the Lahore industry and the Gujjars were back in business after their hiatus following Sultan Rahi's death (murder?). There wasn't much room for actresses who wanted to do decent work, like Resham. She did do well in side roles in movies like Inteha though...
Now, when no Urdu movies are being made and the Lahore industry is dead, Resham is probably the only actress with roots in the filmdom who is very well placed in the television world, and much of that is due to Man-o-salwa. I think she looks stunning and its just plain tragic that Pakistani actors and actresses are so underutilized when they are capable of much more...just watch her in Inteha where she was awesome.
Also, she is more like early to mid 30s. Def not 40.

She is indeed a good actress and I mentioned her PTV training for that but still, I won't agree that she is massively popular. As for her age, she is around 40 as her first play on PTV Lahore was aired in 1993 and she was at least 23 or 24 at the time.

"Tarang" brand though its sales have never picked up. People still prefer the Nestle brand. Anyways, that show might be a hit in Punjab, as said earlier, and not all over Pakistan. It was full of Punjabi style acting and barhaks with Rambo and Syed Noor fully supporting that style of acting. If that is the way of supporting a reality program then there is something seriously wrong with ENGRO (parent of Tarang). Oh, but they are a Pakistani company so there might be some personal infatuation with Punjabi style Lollywood by their owners. What a shame!

But that is totally off topic anyway. Practically all the performances in the Tarang show were from Urdu films of the golden era, when folks from all over Pakistan (including Bangladesh) were involved in film production. It was in no manner limited to a single film type, besides until Maula Jatt (1977?), even Punjabi films were pretty mild. That show did a great job in putting forward the typical Pakistani film sequences (comedy, tragedy/revenge with a social theme, crime related etc. ) and getting the participants tested on that kind of stuff. Did you ever really watch it, as in, all of it?
Resham did pretty much what she was supposed to do, her comments more often than not were rather encouraging. She looked gorgeous which never hurts. And FYI, she is commanding a pretty decent salary (at par with Vaneeza) for her performances.

Erm...have u actually seen this show? The show didn't promote the 'maula jutt' culture at all. How on earth would you know this show was a hit in Punjab only? ARY showed it globally so plz stop acting like you know it all.
