Poor People's Rule and Corruption

Weekly Satribune Special Report 5.9.2004 says ousted MQM Minister for Communication Ex-Senator Ahmed Ali after is removal stated that he had caught an Army General heading the National Highway Authority nvolved in gross corruption sometime in 2003 and when he sought an explanation from the General he was told to shut up. According to report the shocked the Minster raised the matter with General Musharraf and his party leader Altaf Hussain. Surprisingly both told him to forget about NHA Affairs and not to interference as Communication Minister. The ousted Minister has not mentioned anything about his own scandalous affair about allotment of Industrial plots in the name of Pakistanis working abroad at Port Qassim. Ardeshir Cowasjee in his article reported that 650 application had already come. Pakistani Embassies abroad, Overseas Pakistanis Foundation in Islamabad and Karachi never knew about this scheme or any Application Forms so from where these 650 applications came only the ousted Minister must be knowing. A businessman who was really interested after reading Ardeshir Cowasjee’s article rushed personally to Karachi and Port Qassim Authority offices where he was told more than 50,000 applications have already come so he was advised not to struggle for apply. There is a general belief that since our politicians are mostly semi literate Chaudhries, Waderas, Tribal Akhwans, Sardars etc hence they have never cared for welfare of common man. This is true but not cent percent. These Chaudhries, Waderas, Tribals (except for Baloch Sardars) while did increase their coffers also one way or the other kept in view ordinary man and did a little for the society. It was further believed that when leadership Educated from middle. poor class will come only that will do practically the welfare of common man. This belief proved totally wrong when MQM which is from lower middle but so-called highly educated came into power what did they do. General Zia rightly stated “Eat but let the Kheer become a little cold do not burn your own mouth eating hot cooked”. Let alone what General Musharraf said to this MQM ousted Minister. But particular point to see is the reaction of Altaf Hussain about whom some still have illusion he is different and being educated and from poor have sincerity for the country and poor masses. Pir Altaf Hussain has always advocated that vested interest forces does not like his MQM to come into power as he and his party is against corruption and forces know well during MQM rule these forces would not benefit from corruption. This from an insider MQM senior about his own Pir is self explanatory and should open the eyes of many. God save this country from the day when “poor” class would come into power .
