Re: Poor mindset
Ah, I see. So this is a thread to discuss the great wisdom behind bollywood lyrics? Oh dear, sorry peeps I'm out of here.
Analysing bollywood, that's just too painfully philosophical and deep for me.

Re: Poor mindset
I would rather take it as how painful it is and what it takes to be or become rich.
You are hell bent on working to reach your goals?
Dreadful competetion to retain your position in business domain?
Mechanized social life?
24/7 emergency?
Re: Poor mindset
I dont see there's an issue being poor. Being content on what ever you have is a blessing, one should strive to excel though. Anything earned through sheer hard work is appreciable. I prefer an honest poor person on a corrupt rich man.

I thought this topic is about "gareeb log".

I think the psyche that dominates our society is not to be content on what you have. It now revolves around to get more and more by hook or crook. Being poor and content seems an attitude from Alif Leela stories, as now people have been made to pass their lives on funds and schemes like Benazir Income Support, etc.
I’ve received many messages saying your CNIC have been selected and you can get fund of Rs this and that under that scheme. PPP before last elections, distributed funds in their constituencies by obtaining copies of CNICs. I never gave any copy of my CNIC to such people, but still…
During 2008 floods, aid was obtained by well off people that include food, blankets, etc. People used to live in camps portraying themselves poor. Under all these scenarios, I don’t think that we have an attitude that is mentioned in OP.

agreed, and this is the biggest reasons of spread in diseases like hyper tension. Now if a neighbour buys something new, demands will start appearing in your house disregarding the fact that you can afford things or not. We have started living beyond our means.

Re: Poor mindset
I think people are confusing a poor mindset (as in a lack of ambition) with being content with what you have. Those two are not the same thing and there is quite a big difference between two. It is one thing to have no ambition to better your life and have low standards. Being content with what you have and not being focused on material things is something very different.
Re: Poor mindset
^ thats true, I never thought of it as that way. As in a lack of ambition.
Re: Poor mindset
General question:
How much money do people need in order to feel 'secure' and/or 'comfortable' depending on their location, age and family status ?
