pooping

my 2 yr old had recently stopped pooping everyday. She’s at childcare 5 days a week so i assume she does one everyday there

but over the weekend, she didnt do any and lastnight (which was a tuesday) she was so distressed while doing it and it took forever (poor bubz)

it seemed she hadnt done one for like 4 days! (I will confirm with the minders whether she had done one on Monday or not)

but is this normal? I just feel sorry for the munckin.. she was highly distressed cus it was (obviously) painful

Re: pooping

Prune Juice is what your young'n needs. Dilute it with water so its 1/2 ounce juice and 1/2 ounce water = 1 ounce a day. This is just rough estimate, get your doc's permission first and also find out how long you should continue this. Poop will flow like the nile.

Re: pooping

Toddlers her age usually poop everyday. And if you have one like mine, sometimes twice :emmy:.

She may be adjusting to a new sleep schedule or lunch menu. Check with the folks there. be sure to give her lots of fruits. She’ll be fine.

Re: pooping

Thanks Cheeg.. She has actually been eating full prunes for past two days. Maybe that's helped.

Yeah Nikki, I will check with them today. I cant see anything that has changed, only maybe that she hasnt been having cereal for a few days. Maybe that may have affected her bowel movement.

Thanks guys

^ LOLLL but yeah its true. I speak from experience! Prune juice and solid prunes really do the trick no matter what the age. I've heard dates (kajoor) also work, but thats more sugary so I don't know if you want to try it on your 2 yr old.

Re: pooping

Sadzz - Both of mine poop everyday!

At childcare also fill her sippy cup with water. Most kids don't drink a lot of water during the day. My daughter has some SERIOUS constipation issues. What has helped is

  • a spoon of honey a day
  • grapes
  • prune juice (she won't eat prunes or raisans)
  • water (atleast 4 glasses a day)
  • yogurt

Re: pooping

I have one son with really serious constipation issues, one with moderate and one with occasional. Sheesh! The severe case needs Benefiber, I add one tbsp to his morning oatmeal along with a tsp of honey. Also encourage him to drink lots of water, eat more veggies and fruits. Middle son doesnt need the benefiber so he gets water encouragement, fruit/veggie encouragement. Something I noticed is that when they;re pooping good, life is also good....they behave better, they're happier, more focused and able to learn, play and enjoy. Constipation puts such a damper on that. So when they dont want to learn something new...I always wonder "when was the last time you pooped?"

That means child minders are not feeding properly or very little at all.

If it was perfect before then sure they are not feeding her that much or very little.

Re: pooping

what a nice title indeed :D

Well, my elder one is the trouble maker at pooping... Sheesh! When he was 3 yrs old he got so afraid of doing it, he would hold it for as long as 4 days and at the end it just had to come out, and he got so afraid of the dard factor, that he thought pooping hurts everytime.. I had to tell him constantly that if you do it regularly it wont hurt.. But no.. :(

My father told me to give him butter, a couple of tbsp shud do
I know some kids cant eat it.. but everytime he ate butter,it worked.
it actually made him poop.... :D
