Ansoon, bhaijaan, there is something called a calendar that is available on the cell phone. You can usually set events or appointments with reminders. You can save the money and do it yourself.
kaleem bhaijaaan, prayer times do change from day to day and sometimes we humans forget to update our calendars that’s why we want to introduce this service
it's a great service but a bad business model. It's not a service which may drive consumer spending per se'. If you were to offer mobile advertising for companies, then it could be a model where you can expect to charge for the services you are offering. Here' it's not given.
I would run it as a free service first of all just to see how many people actually do subscribe, and then you have a better shot at charging for the service..
I will not pay for it. I consider it to be unnecessary. If offered as a free trial, I would probably subscribe it to see how functional it is.
well right now if you are in ontario then you can try this service for free at prayeralerts.com .. but as we expand in Canada n USA we might need to charge $1/yr as a subscription fee to run the service..
Ansoon, there are a few guys at my college who would probably be interested in such a service. Not only that, but I'm sure many would just subscribe to it in order to help a Muslim business, especially since it is offering something vital and Islamic.
As for myself, I may not personally subscribe to it, as I usually keep the prayer timings in mind while outside home, so usually it isn't too much of a problem for me, alhamdulillah.
However, I think it would be great if it could be sort of personalized so instead of getting prayer alerts 5 times a day, a subscriber may choose to only be alerted for Fajr alone or Asr or Fajr or any such combinations.
If I really needed it, I wouldn't mind paying $1/mnth (Canadian). Perhaps you could offer packages such as $1/mnth an annual subscription for $10 (Canadian).
Btw... the idea is great and I'm sure many would be in need of such a service.
^ Sadiyah, I am not in this for a money making idea hehe but really the problem is that cost for the wireless carriers in North America is pushing it to be a subscription based service..
Your idea sounds good.. hopefully we will run a trial version for a month or maybe offer first month free so that ppl can get the feel of it and see if it is good or not..
Ansoon, I know you're not in this for money, insha'Allah. However, you initially asked how much would we like to pay for such a service. Therefore, after reading your $1/yr post I realized paying $1/mnth won't be too bad.
I only brought in money just in case you have expenses to cover for.
Also, you should post flyers at the mosques and advertise in local Pakistani/desi directories. I'm sure it'll help, insha'Allah.
I understand your point Sadiyah .. inshaAllah i will look into it.
As far as posting flyers and advertising in local pakistani/desi directories is concerned..we approached all of Pakistani radio shows in toronto and NONE of them agreed to announce our service even when our service is free.. WE HAD TO EVENTUALLY PAY ONE OF THE STATIONS TO GIVE US 10 MINS on air.. so yeah that didn't go well.. but we did get a call from CBC National to give 20 mins of interview during their rush our show.. and we had not even approached them for this.. so it was quite interesting..
with a project of this scale where we plan to cover a huge area we have to come up with a good marketing plan and that's what might take alot of our time and efforts but InshaAllah we will overcome it and by the end of this summer we will launch this service and hopefully it will be a FREE service inshaAllah
