Re: Poll - Enjoying the dawat …

You are not alone , iss dunya main aur bhee bohat nadeeday hain jo dosroom k khanoon per nazar rakhtay hain. :stuck_out_tongue:

Re: Poll - Enjoying the dawat …

:omg: Mirch, I am the nadeeda who’s just freaking tired of eating at my home .. every nadeeda needs a change :snooty:

Re: Poll - Enjoying the dawat ...

It seems like I am the only one who is opting for no. 1. Fewer dishes please! If you like a wider selection of dishes, please go to a buffet. Lakin kisi ke ghar jaate huwey banda thori si to consideration show karey.

Poor host may have to spend their entire day, or even days (preparing ahead) for dawat. And the guests come and tastes only a little bit of each or some dishes. I find that very rude. If someone has invested so much time and effort to cook something for you, then at least be courteous enough to eat everything and not do nakhray. "oh, mein tou dieting pe hoon", "I only like this, that and the other" blah blah.

Anyway, back to the original topic. I would go for no.1 because I only like to eat one dish at a time. And don't like to eat various things at one time. Plus it's such an extravagance. However, since I know the typical desi mentality of people that there should be 7-8 dishes, else the guest will feel offended ke hamein kuch samjha hi nahin...yeh izzat afzaai ki hai hamari etc. But personally speakin, I don't enjoy dawaats where you have too many items on the table. Na tou mujhe yeh pasand hai ke mezbaan bechare saara din kitchen mein ghuss ke lagay rahein. Na hi yeh ke itna khana bach jaye. Yeh sarasar israaf hai meri nazar mein.

Re: Poll - Enjoying the dawat ...

I like a dawat with a variety of dishes....especially if the dishes are balanced. Like not all meat dishes....but to have some veggie as well...to have rice, but to also have roti...heavy dishes but the lighter ones as well. A harmonious balance.

The dawats with lesser dishes is more suitable if you're inviting a small group of people.

Re: Poll - Enjoying the dawat ...

Is anybody else like this: You go to a dawat...and you see that there are several dishes and all of them are desi except for one lasagna or pasta type dish.....and you just gravitate toward that....and you pile up on that because it's more ...I dunno...appealing because it's not commonly served in desi dawats and it seems to stand out...and that makes it taste even better. And it tends to be the first dish to be finished. Anybody else experience that?

Re: Poll - Enjoying the dawat ...

RV , I have that thing ... but I take a bit first to see if i like the taste ...

Oh well , I must admit though , I love almost every kind of food except sea food ... so I eat most of the dishes with immense interest :@:

Re: Poll - Enjoying the dawat ...

when going to dawat, 'who is coming' is more important to me than 'whats cooking' :)
