This has bothered me at every election time. With any issue that comes to the table, the politicians speak of THEIR views. Their personal views. I just dont think that their personal views should matter. Elected officials are supposed to represent the majority of the people who put them in office whether they agree or not…right?

Re: Politicking
So you are saying politicians should ASK for YOUR VIEWS? ![]()
Do you know this was the reason that Royale lost election in France because she was asking for people’s views while Sarkozy [a far rightist] showed his views and called Royale a confused person with no views and Viola! Royale loses elections to the far-right Sarkozy [anti-immigration might have played its part too].
I remember in the last election, I had a guy in class who said that he would vote for Bush because he had BALLS!!!
. The problem with kerry ended up that he was a flip-flop and didn’t have any firm views. The biggest part of being a leader that I have now learned is that you have to be able to “LEAD from the top” ie you can’t be indecisive about issues. Looking at american leaders, you see example of FDR who went against the flow and got involved in EUROPE [against norm] and evidently, made America a superpower as brain drain happened to Europe and US got rich off of European war.
