Yesterday watched Malik’s program with Zubair Umar (PMLN) and Asad Umar (PTI)… Quality of discussion has totally changed. A pleasant drift from all those idiots who used to represents the previous government.. when they were asked about any incompetence-corruption, they used to cry the endangered state of democracy. Miftah Ismail (PMLN) is also doing a great job on TV shows. I hope PMLN team which seems very competent this time with PTI as watchdogs in opposition will improve things as far as governance and management is concerned.

Not to sound biased, but there is a vivid difference in caliber between Asad Umar and Zubair Umar…and also Asad Umar and Miftah. Asad Umar is extremely clean cut, and brutally to the point…almost seems like he is a neutral observer, rather than with PTI…whereas I see a hint of politics in Miftah and Zubair.
Another thing I dont understand is why these stalwarts, Zubair Umar and Miftah Ismail have been regionalized by plugging them into the BOI of Punjab, and why not the fed govt. The fed govt seems to be a continuation of 1997.

No one has been given any portfolio in the up coming government as yet. At the moment both Miftah and Zubair are deeply indulged in economic and energy planning meetings being chaired by Nawaz Sharif himself for last 8 days.. Most probably Miftah will the energy advisor directly to PM in the coming set up. Energy is an issue which Nawaz is going to oversee himself no matter who is the energy minister. Energy minister will be a just a face.. while the actual decision making will be designated to a team.. and I am sure Miftah and Zaubair are going to play an important role.. it seems looking at the deliberations Nawaz is making for last 8 days.
Asad no doubt is very good.. but can tell Zubair is no less. All of them including Asad are politicized (nothing wrong with that) but they have different roles to play. Asad's role is going to be equally important as a competent observer of all the execution plan these guys are going to make. Asad is more or less on board for the moment with these execution plans and his input is also being sought. Tareen is back in finance.. at the moment they are trying to shortlist a team to head different gencos and discos.. and this list is more or less a consensus between PTI and PMLN.
At the moment I can see a will to curtail the mismanagement. Only time will tell how successfully the are able to tackle the issues..
P.S. They are all clean guys with competence. I think you are biased when you say that only Asad is clean.

I did not say that Zubair and Miftah are not clean. They are competent, and very well versed in what they do. But Asad is more straight forward in terms of delivering his views and approach. The others leave something to be desired, and tend to mask facts behind political decorum and party lines.
Lets see how much of an impact their views have on the decisions of the government, as from what i know, Miftah has been with the Punjab BOI since 2010, but its always been Shahbaz Sharif on the decision making front.
