Re: Politicianns and Google trends...

Imran khan is at an obvious advantage due to his superstar status.

Re: Politicianns and Google trends…

Above graph is interesting and it is interesting to analyse the chart too on what it representing and why it is like that according to events. I am putting my understanding of the chart and my analysis. It would be nice for others to comment too. Here is my understanding and analysis of the chart.

Search volume: Shows how many people did search with person name in it over the time.

News reference volume: Shows how many times the person broke into the news.

Let News reference volume first as it is easier:

It seems that Musharaf was always in the news in varying numbers (From the chart news reference shows that there was more news about Musharaf during earlier March ’04, April ’05, early Oct ’05 and Jan-Feb ‘06).

Imran Khan is second as it seems that his presence in news is always there (even if marginal compare to Musharaf), though in late Feb-early March ’06 he was more in the news then at any other time chart covers. Reason? Bush south Asia visit started around end February. Bush came to Pakistan on 3rd of March. Before Bush visit, there was lot of noises in Pakistan on cartoon issue and Imran Khan was very active in it. I believe, that is the main reason for him to be more in news during mentioned time.

BB made superficial appearance in the news, especially around late 2004, early 2005 (first few months). I believe the main reason being in the news during the time was Swiss court appearance on corruption charges and notice of red warrant arrest by Interpol. I think that it is a successful PR on her part not to be in the news as most news about her is regarding corruptions.

NS was not in the news most of the time while in Saudia from where he came out recently to have any impact on the chart. (Chart goes upto early April '06).

Now regarding search volume.

This chart is very interesting. Imran Khan is leading most of the time while others seem neglected amongst searchers.

Well, Imran Khan has a level of search that is present through out the period. Reason being that he is not only politicians but a past cricketer too so has reasonable fans searching as well as those who have interest in cricket (Pakistan has lot of his fans).

regardless, there is timing when Imran search hit was in much larger number then usual. From the chart, that happened in June 2004. Why? Two big events happened during June 2004 in the life of Imran Khan that must have caused lot of search on him.

In around mid June 2004, Imran and Jemima divorced. That must have caused a lot of search hit on him.

Second event was death of Sita white happened in April 04. In her will, she named Jemima as Tyrian’s (Imran’s love child) guardian. Sita white was a millionaire who spent time with Imran before his marriage. Imran had an illegitimate child from Sita named ‘Tyrian’ (a girl daughter).

[She asked Imran to declare his fatherhood and when Imran did not, she moved American court to get DNA test that Imran declined. Tyrian also resembles Imran a lot (I have seen her picture in many British newspapers published at the time when news was hot stuff)].

News of Sita White death and Imran’s illegitimate daughter guardianship came at similar time Imran marriage broke down (May-June '04). Hence, there must be lot of hit on search engine by people who wanted to know more.

It is surprising that Imran did not put much impact in news even after such events. It seems a very successful PR by Imran too.

That is my analysis:

** £5m threat over Imran love child
By Sarah Hills, Metro
4 August 2004 **

The ex-lover of Imran Khan wrote him a threatening letter weeks before she died demanding £5.5million to help raise their love child, it emerged yesterday.

Millionairess Sita White stated that she wanted justice for their daughter Tyrian, who the legendary Pakistani cricketer refused to acknowledge.

The letter was written in April and was addressed to both Mr Khan - officially named as Tyrian’s father in a paternity suit in the US seven years ago - and his then wife Jemima Goldsmith.

It called for him to recognise his obligations as a father and set up a £5.5million trust fund for Tyrian, aged 12.

Miss White, daughter of the late British industrialist Lord White, threatened to tell the media if he did not agree to the terms.

‘This is not about me, this is not about revenge, it is about justice for Tyrian,’ she wrote. 'Acknowledgement of your obligation and responsibilities is long overdue.

‘I am requesting a response within seven days. Should you choose not to respond and agree to these terms, the fall out from media intervention … will be certain and out of my control.’

But, in a dramatic change of heart, she never sent the letter. She later named her once bitter rival Jemima as Tyrian’s guardian, knowing she and Mr Khan were divorcing. The next month, Miss White, 43, died in Beverly Hills of a cancer-related lung embolism.

Mr Khan immediately flew from Pakistan, where he is now a politician, to see Tyrian and told her she was welcome to live with his family in London.

He is supporting a bid by Miss White’s sister, Caroline, to become the legal guardian of her niece.

Jemima Khan, daughter of billionaire Sir James Goldsmith, had agreed to Miss White’s request to be Tyrian’s guardian but felt she should be with her family, reporter Vicky Ward writes in this month’s edition of Vanity Fair.

Imran accepts Tyrian as his child

Karachi, May 23 (ANI): Crickter-turned-politician Imran Khan and his wife Jemina Khan have finally and formally accepted Tyrian, said to be Imran’s “love child” from Sita White. Imran himself announced this here Saturday.

“Sita before her death wrote a letter expressing her will that both of us should accept the guardianship of Tyrian. After consultations, we have accepted to become the girls’ guardians,” The Nation quoted the former cricket captain as saying at the Karachi Press Club.

“She would stay in US but we shall fulfil all obligations of guardianship”, Khan said adding “we have accepted the guardianship not the custody, there is a difference between the two.”

According to the paper, the will left behind by Sita White stipulates that Imran gets custody of Tyrian after her death, London-based Mail has reported. “Her will says Imran gets full and complete parental rights over Tyrian if anything happened to Sita. Tyrian and Imran now have a strong bond despite his reluctance to acknowledge her during her early years,” one of Sita’s close friends was quoted as saying, the paper said.

The report further said Imran and Jemima discussed bringing the 12-year-old to live with them and their sons - Sulaiman (7) and Qasim (4) in UK. It quoted Jemima as telling one of her friends:

“We are committed to doing whatever is best for Tyrian and we are both very happy for her to move to the UK and live with us if that’s what she wants.” (ANI)
