This was written up in the Herald and i thought i’d add to it…I thought it’d both entertain and educate:
‘Fazal Elahi ko reha karo .’ translation Free Fazal Elahi ..chalked outside his ho,e ( President of Pakistan 1973-1978, appointed by ZAB..considered powerless and a prisoner in President House..the term could easily have been used for PM’s like Jamali etc)
Ganja Ke Sar pe hal chale ga (the bald ones head will be ploughed) An attack used by the PNA against ZAB..to which ZAB replied
“Yeh Kya Tumhare baap ka sar hai keh tum hal chalao ge” ( this is not your fathers head to plough)
Roos jao, Cheen hao, Bhaag hao (off to Russia, Off to China, be gone) used against leftist parties
hehe yeah, political slogans in our country have always been fun and interesting. a few recent ones that come to mind right now are;
"jura'at o bahaduri, Tahir-ul-Qadri"
"Awaam ki hai ek hi raaye, Musharraf o Imraan hi aaye" (from the pre election era when Imran and Mush had intimacies).
there was smthng that i had heard when i was a kid about Altaf Hussain which went something like "Altaf Husain Bhagorra bhaag giya...smthng"
then there was one about sheikh saab with him being called Sheeda.
