PMS - What to do About it?

^ PCG...Reading your post it does say that you are suffering quite much with this condition....i would advice you to show to a doc...may be your primary care or family doc.....atleast he can prescribe you some anti-anxiety or anti-depressant like prozac etc .....looking over the net ...i also saw that motrin, advil or ponstel(Ponstan)can also help in PMS....lastly you can also try thosr Herbal or Homeopathic meds...available over the counter or at those special Herbal stores(but again ask your doc about the med first before taking it)....

Anti-depressants apparently make you worse. I wouldn’t suggest taking anything other than midol or herbal remedies. Feel better soon.

^ Ok so Midol would settle down her symptoms of cramps, bloating, pains etc...would about those mood swings, anxiety etc??

I thought there was nothing we could do abt them mood swings?

Shahreen, have you personally tried and benefited from evening primrose oil?

I get real moody, binge and be just irritated in general abt a week before and it sucks.

^ Hmm looks like many many females are suffering from things they shouldn’t be…this is simply ignorant in this age of medicine & science…There is a treatment for almost each & every condition in medicine…why not show to a doctor…who may refer you to a good specialist…
Suffering for a week:eek:…i would not recommend anyone…as how many guys would suffer for a week & would also sit quiet? You girls can tell by your own experience:blush:

Go to this site…It has some good info…it is a site by Midol…Oh God ..i am soooo helpful:blush:

of all the symptoms that midol claims to cover - anger and irratibility are not among them.

i'll try it anyway though.

Midol is more for cramps and bloating. I don't think it does anything for mood swings.

Maybe you should try something totally different like aromatherapy.

hahaha..poor women :hehe:

it is sooo good to be a man - trust me.

^ menstruation fetish?

Mehnaz - aromatherapy...hm...

You know what has honestly helped to some degree. And I'm expecting nothing less than 1000 GS cyber fitnas for this. But praying - as in namaz. Even during my period when the anger continues into the first and second day. Its soothing.

Yeh, I suppose anything that can alleviate stress, right? I was thinking about making it a habit to take some time off and go to the beach also during those days.

^ kisi doctor ko naa dikhaana:hoonh:

“Menstruation fetish” Yuck. I was just trying to help by offering chocolate as an alternative. Your are really PMS-ing

wow me too :( havent read the rest of the thread, but I get bad pms as well, mood swings and ill snap like a vicious dog if anyone irritates me. I mean, its not fair if this happens to us monthly.

Yes.....my husband insists upon me taking them. Haha.

I've been taking it for a few years now and yes, it really does help with the mood swings and also alleviates menstrual cramps. I actually started take it for my skin though.....so the fact that it help sort out my PMS is an extra incentive for taking it.

I do take quite a high dose though - anything between 3000mg and 5000mg daily (depending on how many capsules I can be bothered to take)

 I am pretty sure he was joking lussi.

Shahreen - is that the same stuff you’ve recommended for smearing on the face? I thought that was rose oil…

I’m going to the health stores sometime soon to look up all these suggestions. I still need to look into that foundation that dimagh hota tho na recommended!

The face stuff was rosehip oil…i don’t think it’s available as supplement form otherwise I’d take it that way instead. Evening primrose oil is altogether different.

shahreen... does rosehip help period pain? really??

No sadzz. Well not as far as I know anyway.

I think we're just all getting our wires crossed......rosehip oil is for the face thing, and evening primrose oil for the PMS.

^ kewl.. i was thinking. Ive been using rosehip for ages and i thought it was only for skin

It is Sadzz.

But just to confuse matters slightly....evening primrose oil also has beneficial effects on the skin too, when taken regularly as a supplement.
