PMLN's counter terrorism policy

Please help me decipher their counter terror policy. They dont want to negotiate with the TTP and then don’t want to confront them. Do they think that they can achieve results by inaction?

They are against drone strikes (as they keep on saying but mixed signals are coming from them these days) but are not willing to force the US to stop them. The country is fighting for its existence and we dont have a policy to darg it out of this mess.

I respect Raja Zafrulhaq (Chairman PMLN) but someone asked him a question about the TTP and he refused to reply saying that he does not want to upset them.

Re: PMLN’s counter terrorism policy

Their counter terror policy is to help the americans negotiate with their foes and help the afghanis negotiate with their foes…and when it comes to your own foes, keep stalling so long as the americans cheques keep clearing.

Re: PMLN's counter terrorism policy

government has become a "chuuN chuuN kaa murabba" for all practical purposes...no direction, no determination and no intention.

There is simply no policy in place whatsoever. When it comes to misrule, I see hardly any difference in Gillani and Sharif.

Re: PMLN's counter terrorism policy

I disagree with you here. I think Gillani's rule (minus corruption) was better than this one. This is one directionless and clueless government.

Re: PMLN's counter terrorism policy

Matlab Gillani was right that people would remember PPP government after its departure?

NS nay naani yaad dila di hay only after 6 months :hehe:

NS is the PM, foreign minister and defense minister. Do you think he is capable enough to perform duties on any one of these portfolios?

Re: PMLN's counter terrorism policy

nahaarii khaanaa band kar deN to shaayad koi ek portfolio saHeeH se sambhaal sakte haiN...his motto seems to be 'good relations' with India and India hai k N$ ko ghaas nahiiN Daal rahaa...sad!

After ending the energy crisis successfully, Khawaja Asif has been given an additional portfolio of defence minister

I think that is to see the CJ off, till Dec 12… :snooty:

Re: PMLN's counter terrorism policy

I dont think its the proper time to improve relationship with India, one way traffic never works.

Re: PMLN's counter terrorism policy

i agree but N$ doesn't see it that way...may be his own interests are ahead of the nation's interests...he wants to proceed from where he left off last time around. this is an election year in India and Indians will NOT take any steps to normalize relations because the Modi/BJP/Shiv Sena will exploit that.

N$ should wait until the new government takes office in India in 2014...i bet you BJP will be better deal with, like Atal Bihari Bajpai did. BJP is the party that behaves better when in power.

Re: PMLN’s counter terrorism policy

Its quite funny to see that NS is willing to bend over backwards to ensure that Afghani Taliban negotiate with the Afghan govt so that peace can prevail in Afghanistan. Almost makes it seem like he is the PM of Afghanistan.
At the same time, its quite sad, that while he will do whatever it takes for the neighbors to negotiate with their foes, he cant be bothered with making the same effort on the domestic front. Pakistan Leader in Kabul to Push Taliban Talks - WSJ.com

Pakistan’s Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif visits Kabul on Saturday on** a trip that aims to push forward the Afghan government’s stalled talks with the Taliban** and spur joint economic projects that could ease Pakistan’s chronic electricity crisis.

The Pakistani prime minister, who seeks to reassert civilian control over his nation’s foreign and security policies, has made the improvement of relations with Mr. Karzai’s government a top priority, tempering the Pakistani security establishment’s long-term support for the Afghan Taliban insurgency. “Peace and stability in Afghanistan are in Pakistan’s vital interest,” the Pakistani Foreign Ministry said Friday.

“Sharif understands the value, and has reasonable clarity on how to achieve [stability in Afghanistan,] when others continue to view Karzai as not the best partner,” said Mosharraf Zaidi, a former adviser to Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry. "Pakistan must not react to what seem to be provocations from Afghanistan. The relationship is much further along than most people give it credit."

Afghan officials view Pakistan, where most Afghan Taliban leaders are based, as holding the key to initiating peace talks with the insurgency. The Taliban have refused to negotiate with Mr. Karzai, dismissing him as an American “puppet.” **The Afghan officials say they believe that Pakistan has the capacity to bring the Taliban to the negotiating table.

Re: PMLN’s counter terrorism policy

Why would Nawaz care to take initiative for tackling the internal matters? He has only been once in the parliament, has traveled 60 days in his 6 months period, Bhai time kiss k pas hai? He can only " take parties in to confidence ", but don’t want to go either way. Either kill those scumbags or proceed with the so called peace talks. Didn’t have many hopes from PMLN, but expected them at least to make a effort for tackling this serious issue.

They are only capable to issue statements and create committees. Sad!

Re: PMLN’s counter terrorism policy

PPP was termed the most corrupt government in the history of Pakistan, I say that PML-N is the most hypocrite and two-faced political party in the history of mankind.
