PMLN filing no trust motion against the PM

The current crisis seems to be heading towards a final showdown, what do you guys reckon will be the result of the no tust motion? Whats the latest number of constituencies held by the various groups in NA?

**PML-N filing no-trust motion against PM
**
The PML-N has made this decision in principle to forestall the coalition parties intention to move of pro-President and -PM resolution in the National Assembly on Friday.

A joint session of PML-N Central Executive Committee and parliamentary party was held with Nawaz Sharif in the chair. Further strategy was reviewed while keeping in view the current socio-political and economic situation of the country.

While talking to the media, Nawaz Sharif said that the Central Executive Committee of the PML-N has approved to bring no-confidence motion against the prime minister, launch long march and street protests against the government.
He said that other parties would also be communicated to prepare a unanimous strategy for anti-government campaign. The session said that democracy has been endangered due to poor policies, adding that institutions are being destroyed with the passage of time without leaving any ray of hope of their reinstatement.

He said that the government institutions including the PIA, Pakistan Railways, Steel Mills, PSO and PEPCO are facing loss worth billions on a daily basis. Poverty, inflation, unemployment and gas and power loadshedding have snatched away the right of living from the people, he said.
He said that change has become order of the day; however, the PML-would not favour unconstitutional steps.

**Meeting was told that Nawaz Sharif has had a meeting with Fazlur Rehman, Mahmood Khan Achakzai, Liaqat Baloch and Sajid Mir.

Re: PMLN filing no trust motion against the PM

No motion will bear no fruit. Maolana Diesel is a fence-sitter, you never know where will he end up. The rest of the guy Sharif plans to meet are either not present in the NA or have little to help the no-trust vote. It's a nonstarter...

Re: PMLN filing no trust motion against the PM

agree with you overall, but JUI is no-weight, its the PML-Q and MQM who can make or break, but seeing their history of licking any behind... they will support ghaddari, I mean Zardari and Chor company.

****ISLAMABAD: **In a bid to make most of the precarious situation, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) will be weighing all options before opposition parties today (Friday) to formulate a grand anti-government strategy — possibly a vote of no confidence against the country’s premier.

**
The three options that came up during PML-N’s meeting at the Punjab House on Thursday were a) Vote of no confidence against the prime minister b) resignations from assemblies and c) street protests.

PML-N leaders said that their party would try to gather all parties to pile up pressure on the government to step down and announce early elections. But opting for any one of these or a combination of them will now rest on the feedback and consultation from other parties.

The PML-N, which has long been considering itself ‘the government in waiting’, is now accosting other opposition parties, groups and individuals to converge on ‘minimum-possible common agenda’ against the ruling party.

**Those who have been approached and invited for a luncheon meeting today (Friday) with Nawaz Sharif at the Punjab House include Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s JUI-F, Aftab Ahmed Khan Sharpao’s PPP-S, Jamat-e-Islami, Mir Hasil Bizinjo and Mehmood Khan Ackahzai’s nationalist parties from Balochistan that sit on the opposition benches.
**

In the next phase, PML-N intends to approach the parties, groups and individuals in the ruling alliance and Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). The parliamentary party and the Central Executive Committee (CEC) of the PML-N have mandated Leader of Opposition Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Sardar Mehtab Abbasi and Iqbal Zafar Jhagra – who was also appointed as the new secretary general of PML-N – to make the initial contacts.

**Vote of no confidence

**
While the PML-N leaders unanimously converged at the meeting, it was Shahid Khaqan Abbasi who floated the idea of brining a no-trust motion in the National Assembly against Yousaf Raza Gilani, sources told The Express Tribune. Khawja Asif was present to second him; however, the party remained ambivalent whether to execute the strategy single-handedly since it lacks the numbers.

“We have only 90 members and had we decided to go for a no-trust motion without taking other parties into confidence, the move would surely have backfired since its failure would mean a vote of confidence for the prime minister,” PML-N’s MNA from Islamabad Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry remarked.

As per rules, once a no trust motion fails, a new cannot be moved in the next six months against the leader of the house.

Khawaja Saad Rafiq and some others proposed that the party should opt for street protests and quit the assemblies. However, this option was not viable since the PML-N feared that by resigning from assemblies it would leave the field open for the government.

The leader of opposition in the National Assembly was of the view that immediate focus should be paid to annul the government’s plans of cementing its grip through parliament by approaching other parties and groups.

However, it is still unclear whether this political strategy would go beyond the short-term agenda of getting a vote of no confidence against Gilani or would it lead towards a grand opposition alliance.

“Of the options that the CEC has suggested, Mian Nawaz will announce his final decision within two or three days,” PML-N leader Ahsan Iqbal said suggesting that the party would be looking for feedback from other opposition parties.

“Bringing change through fresh elections is inevitable. But unconstitutional change is not acceptable”, he said.

PML-N’s CEC also appointed former Sindh governor Mamnoon Hussain and Nawab Changaiz Khan Marri, the elder son of Nawab Mir Khair Bux Marri, as senior vice presidents of the party.

Re: PMLN filing no trust motion against the PM

this motion has failed even before it started. Resign already!

What field will be opened after resignation? What will they achieve by this no confidence motion. Resign and election commission CANNOT hold by elections. It will have to call for an early election. And I am sure if PMLN resigns, a lot of other PPP members will resign and defect to various parties.

what?

Re: PMLN filing no trust motion against the PM

from a blog:
What will happen in Senate Election.

There are total 50 seats to be re-elected. 11 from each province, 2 from National Assembly & 4 of the minorities i think.

Punjab Assembly will be dissolved as the largest party had resigned. Also no senate election for the 11 seats of Punjab. So PML(N) will loose nothing.
In Sindh & Balochistan, PML(N) has no presence. SO no loss of PML(N)
In National Assembly PML(N) has no majority, neither any strong group. so these seats were never going to PML(N). So no loss here too.
In KP Assembly, PML(N)’s resignation will cause them to loose around 1 or at most 2 seats.
So if PML(N) resigns from all seats its not going to lose more than 2 – 3 seats in Senate. Which is not a bad or a great loss.
just dont wanna lose even two three seats in senate elections. Losers!

Does it matter now

Re: PMLN filing no trust motion against the PM

like the government listens to them!

http://www.geo.tv/GeoDetail.aspx?ID=30754Unconstitutional steps will not be tolerated: Ahsan IqbalISLAMABAD: PML-N information secretary Ahsan Iqbal spoke to the media following Nawaz Sharif’s meeting with opposition leaders.

Iqbal said no unconstitutional steps would be tolerated and the supremacy of law and parliament was dependent on Supreme Court orders being implemented.

“A crisis is being created because Supreme Court orders are not being implemented.”

Commenting on the resolution tabled in parliament in favour of the government, Iqbal said this would not be supported.

**The PML-N leader also called for immediate elections in the country adding that a democratic change had become essential. **
