LAHORE: A number of PML-Q forward bloc members have assured full support to the PML-N leadership. The PML-Q forward bloc has also named their group as the ‘Unification Bloc’, which would continue to support the PML-N.
In a meeting held late on Saturday night at the residence of the PML-N Punjab Secretary Information Khawaja Ahmed Hassan, some 22 like-minded legislators of the PML-Q in the Punjab Assembly, also known as the forward bloc, vowed to support the PML-N in the future. Three members of the PML-Q forward bloc, including Najaf Abbas Sial, Col (retd) Abbas and Jaffer Sargana, did not attend the meeting due to personal reasons.
The meeting was attended by senior PML-N Punjab leaders, including the party’s Punjab president Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa, and General Secretary Raja Ashfaq Sarwar. Insiders revealed that the PML-N leaders also assured complete cooperation to the forward bloc members and pledged to resolve their problems.
However, no ministry was promised by the PML-N leaders to the new ‘Unification Bloc’ of the PML-Q. The main members of the PML-Q forward bloc who attended the meeting included Dr Tahir Javed, Dr Mukhtar Bherth, Ata Mohammed Manika, Saqlain Anwar Sipra, Jalauddin Dhaku, Iqbal Langrial, Pir Walliat Shah Khagga, Arshad Chaudhry, Khalid Mehmood Sargana, Muhammad Shaukat Bhatti, Amer Hayat, Pir Kashif Chisti, Tahir Chaudhry, Ahmed Yar Hanjra, Sultan Sikandar Bharwana, Irfan Bashir Gujjar, Khalid Pervez Virk and Shaikh Rizwan.
