PML-Q to propose Senator Mushahid as caretaker PM
**
Islamabad: Pakistan Muslim League (Q) is going to propose Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed as caretaker Prime Minister to lead the team of caretakers who would supervise general elections to be held in the country next year, sources told Pakistan Observer on Tuesday.
Sources said that the PML-Q has discussed the name of Senator Mushahid Hussain for the top slot of the caretakers with President Asif Ali Zardari and other top leaders of the PPP.
Senator Mushahid Hussain, who is also the Chairman of Senate’s Foreign Relations Committee and the Secretary-General of PML-Q, is trying to build more friendly relationship with the important leaders of important political parties in government and opposition.
Sources said that most of the decision makers in the PPP are reluctant to pitch Mushahid Hussain as caretaker prime minister for his cordial relationship with the establishment.
The PPP leaders also believe that the combined nomination of Mushahid Hussain as caretaker prime minister could annoy the PML-N and PTI, said sources. Sources said that so far the two coalition partners in the government, PPP and PML-Q are not on the same page for the nomination of Mushahid Hussain as head of the caretakers set-up.
Mushahid knows the art of survival. He is a shrewd technician who neither finds it difficult to take U-turns at breakneck speed, nor considers them embarrassing. He is a textbook example of a brilliant mind and a remarkable orator lost in the labyrinth of realpolitik.
If integrity is not a condition, then Mushahid could definitely be the caretaker prime minister of Pakistan.

I dont think Mushahid has taken that many uturns either, he was with PMLN and this thing we will have to establish that either he left PMLN or the party ditched him. Since leaving the Sharif's for good, he is with Chaudhary's and he could always have made a comeback now (like the 200 others) as the pastures are greener on the other side now. But he preferred to stay put. There would be some strong reason why he left in the first place.
^ He has backtracked on all of his views and observations on the PPP. It was least expected of a man of his standing. “Lutto te phutto” was his creation but as soon as Qaaf League embraced the ruling gang, he suddenly fell silent. He literally run from the question these days.
Its better if they go for some non political and clean person though, like some retired judge.
Agreed. Only honest and most reliable person with courage to resist any kind rigging by ISI or political parties. Retd. A person like Justice Fakhruddin G. Ibrahim can be elevated to that post.
Agreed, but then again that's a party decision. If he had crossed floor on that we would have been calling him a lota.
Mushahid Hussain has matured a lot as a politician and as an orator. His earlier speeches and videos used to be so stupid back from NS days. But his silence on alliance with PPP was very disappointing. At the very least he should have voiced his opinions. He has spent last four years manaofying other dissidents and being naraz with chaudhris himself.

Regardless of his political affiliation, he is one of the very rare breed of sane politicians in Pakistan. I respect some people in PPP and pmln too, Raza rabbani, farhatullah Babar, Khurram dastgir, ahsan iqbal and saad rafique.

agreed with most of the names you mentioned apart from Ahsan Iqbal. The guy used to be sane but the way he has started talking in talk shows is disappointing.
But yeah Mushahid is still sane. If he indeed gets the nomination for caretaker pm, he will be a respected pm.
Mushahid Hussain does come across as an intelligent person and always respected him even as a PMLQ member but the way he has DISAPPEARED since forming alliance with PPP suggests he is kind of feeling guilty.
I would still trust him if he was PM but as others said that it is much better if we get a non political person preferably a retired judge.
I used to hold the guy in high esteem. But not anymore.
Does anyone else remember how he used to expose the present government's watchword of "lutto te phutto"? How can one trust a person who goes dead silence just because he has got a slice of the 'cake' he used to abhor day in and day out?
^^ I agree, i always thought he would speak up one day since he felt so strongly about PPP's corrupt regime but he actually disappeared instead. You are right, it's all about piece of cake.
Watching Mushahid Hussain's interview with Asma Chaudhary, he is talking about the IK factor in Central Punjab and Peshawer valley. Seems as if he has some soft corner for PTI as compared to PMLN.
