It’s open to wonder if the PML-Q candidates don’t want to be associated with Mush.
**Why should I?" was the retort of one of the most frequent visitors to Musharraf’s office, when Newsline asked him about the absence of any reference to the retired general in his speeches before his constituents. “I am planning to win the election, not lose it,” was his sly answer. Evidence of such crass opportunism is spread far and wide; it is particularly striking now in the buildup to the elections. Not a single credible voice is heard saying anything substantive in his defence. **
In this regard, he does not look much different from the constituency-less politicians like **Shaukat Aziz, the former prime minister, who cut a pitiable figure out of office. The only difference is that while Aziz was reportedly ridiculed and belittled by Muslim League members for his audacity to apply for a ticket for the elections, **an attempt that was blunted by unanimous opposition from the rank and file of the party, the general has retained the presidency that retains the warmth of power
But still, the dip in his prestige has been precipitous and sharp: if insulting text messages, offensive jokes and slighting slogans circulating throughout Pakistan's urban areas can be taken as a measure of any leader's social standing, the general would perhaps score the lowest points in the country's history. Tragically for him, even his most trusted friends do no want to inherit his political legacy. As one of them puts it, "No one wants to own a trove of blood and tears," a reference to the general's crusade against terrorism - the only unenviable identity he seems to have developed in the last eight years.
ISLAMABAD: A candidate of Pakistan Muslim League (PML-Q) contesting election from two constituencies of Rawalpindi is reported to have dumped hundreds of banners and posters printed with images of President Pervez Musharraf along his own pictures as part of the publicity for the campaign of general elections of 2008. Sources told The Frontier Post that the banners and posters had been prepared by a volunteer to the candidate and were offered to the candidate for installing them in various localities of the city in order to display maximum publicity show of the candidate. Sources said that the volunteer got embarrassment when the candidate rejected the banners on the grounds that the vivid images of President Pervez Musharraf with his pictures might pose risk to electioneering campaign. The PML-Q candidate was once famous for thoroughly supporting the decisions of President Musharraf when he was serving as a minister. A participant who was present at the meeting at the candidate’s home when the volunteer was offering the banners to aspiring candidate told this reporter on condition of anonymity said that the former minister advised his aides to immediately burn the banners before the posters were made public. After rejecting the banners, the candidate strictly directed his confidants that there would be no images in his sign-board or banners except for the election symbol (bicycle). **Sources said that the PML-Q candidate also advised that even the images of his top party leadership should not be mentioned in the background of his sign-boards and banners. It is to be mentioned here that majority of the candidates contesting election from PML-Q platform have refrained from displaying the images of their party leadership in the election campaign. Former railway minister Sheikh Rashid contesting election from NA-55, 56 has publicly announced that he was not serving any political party but his constituents. **
Re: PML-Q candidates distance themselves from Mush
lol.. Good psts Zak...
These chamcha politicians are living up to their character. Their loyalties lie with anyone who can fill their greedy wallets.
Mush should have seen this coming when he went to bed with these lotas.
Re: PML-Q candidates distance themselves from Mush
The only reason why they are doing this is because they know how much people hate Musharraf.
The illegal president of Pakistan and his partner the criminal don from Karachi probably will try to find some new thugs to help them stick to power.....new history is about to be written by them about lotacracy in Pakistan>>>>
Re: PML-Q candidates distance themselves from Mush
Well, Mushrraf is under same delusion. He thinks silent majority is still with him. If he is marad ka putter he should walk down the streets of Islamabad, and see how much people love him…instead of using 10 different decoys when going home from his “camp office”.

hahahha totally agreed. The guy must be partially insane if he believes that. He should take a trip on the streets of any major city and see how he is greeted. Outside of the MQM facists there is no group in the country that truly supports Mushy - he has no real constituency.
