demands accountability of Fazl, Durrani
Provincial PML-N General Secretary Anwar Kamal Marwat has demanded that the government should hold an inquiry into the assets of former NWFP chief minister Akram Khan Durrani and Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly, Maulana Fazlur Rehman. He told reporters at the Peshawar High Court on Tuesday that the government should check the assets of both the MMA leaders after the dissolution of the MMA government. Kamal alleged that there is a clear difference in the assets of Durrani before and after he was chief minister for five years. Kamal also alleged Fazlur Rehman had forced the NWFP chief minister to delay the dissolution of the provincial assembly for his personal interests. He said if Fazlur Rehman really wanted the dissolution of the NWFP Assembly, he would have done it on September 29 and not delayed the decision till October 2. He rejected Fazl’s claim that the resignations had provided the opposition no political benefit. The decision to resign was aimed at creating difficulties for the government and the opposition had succeeded in its strategy. He also alleged that both Fazlur Rehman and Durrani are making Speaker Bakht Jehan a scapegoat in the failure of the dissolution strategy
