LAHORE: Ever since the start of election season, live tigers and lions are a constant feature at PML-N political rallies.

The party leader’s daughter, Mariam Nawaz, in particular enjoys bringing the white tiger to her rallies because of the attention it attracted.

But the show stopper tiger is no more alive.

Sources confirmed to Dawn.com that the rare tiger was brought unconscious to the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore on Tuesday evening. The vets there tried to revive the animal but to no avail. The animal died this morning.

According to WWF, white tigers are endangered and are extremely sensitive to heat and noise. With temperatures in Lahore soaring past thirty degrees Celsius and there being nothing but noise at the political rallies, the tiger could not survive. WWF has also confirmed that famed actor and conservationist Faryal Gohar is going to file a petition with the Lahore High Court against the illegal use of wildlife animals at rallies and other such activities. WWF is supporting the petition.

The tiger belonged to a party worker who boasted off his ‘pet’ at Mariam Nawaz’s rallies. The animal can be seen in PML-N rallies across Punjab.

If anything this should be a way bigger issue to nura league's campaign then the actual injury of IK is to PTI's campaign. They are probably more superstitious.

poor animal.....used and abused......it was disgusting that they didn't consider the welfare of the bezuban janwar in their selfishness.

smart people will see the parallel between themselves and the tiger....

This is actually very very sad. I genuinely hope that Nawas family face world wide criticism and humiliation for thir open abuse of an endangered specie.

Sadly the tiger did not belong to the Sharif family. It was the pet of a supporter who, probably for a fee, would bring the animal to the rallies......

Its terribly sad and disgusting. The PMLn are the worst. Its an endangered animal aswell.
They tortured the poor creature to death. Stupid ignorant SOBs.

Younger son of showbaz sharif once imported white tiger but had to giive up the cat. Heard it was set free in some mountain areas.
Anyone knows the name of the cat doner?
