But in our case, the unelected President is the boss of the elected Prime Minister.

Why don't you understand.....the president is the head of state...though largely ceremonial..he appoints judges etc....the Prime minister wields the executive power...but for the sake of checks and balances is suppose to be answerable to the president...who until NS weilded the power to dismiss parliament......the predident is similar to the way Australia, UK and Canada have the queen...who can if she desires through her governor dismiss the governemtn.
it would be nicer if you could just read up on the constitution of Pakistan.....and then continue with your argument.
The increase the cost pf petrol has less to do with oil cost fluctuations and more do with heavy taxation. A fault of the government not of the World fluctuations in Oil. I dare any Guppie who is living abroad to go back to Pakistan and live in a government salary Grade 19 (which is fairly high up). Just try managing your monthly budget and you'll know what Spock is talking about. Poverty has increased over the last few years. Those living a more avaerage life can't afford even the basics anymore.
I tried looking for GOP policies regarding gasoline prices....but was unable to find it.... so instead I did a comparison of Canadian, and Pakistani prices...keep in mind that Canada is a large producer of petrolium products hence the gasoline should have been cheaper here comparatively to Pakistan....
I checked on the Shell Pakistan site...where it said the the price of diesel is Rs. 25.28, which when converted to Candian dollars is $0.635, at this price it would be a dream for all candians...keeping in mind the current price in $0.78.... so my point is that Pakistan is not overcharging the consumer...all gasoline prices are determined by international market...even the most naive economist will tell you that......
Pakistan needs to focus on alternative fuels...CNG etx..are a good start...but more needs to be done...
Regarding the Inflation.... well I won't argue with you on that...because the Inflation rate was very high during the 90's and cannot be controlled overnight....have patience... The policies which the government has put in place...won't give result for a while...these are all long term....and it is premature to argue about them at this momment....
Although on a personal note...I would like to know for interest sake...how much money every month is required in Pakistan.... would Rs. 20,000 be enough or more...

There is nothing to understand. Musharraf is NOT Jamali's boss as per the Pakistan constitution.

President PM tussle! the constitution of Pak is a long document and this is what I found. Latter when I get back home I will do some more research and see if I can dig out more.
It shall be the duty of the Prime Minister:
(a) to communicate to the President all decisions of the Cabinet relating to the administration of the affairs of the Federation and proposals for legislation;
(b) to furnish such information relating to the administration of the affairs of the Federation and proposals for legislation as the President may call for; and
(c) if the President so requires, to submit for the consideration of the Cabinet any matter on which a decision has been taken by the Prime Minister or a Minister but which has not been considered by the Cabinet.
If any question arises whether any matter is or is not a matter in respect of which the President is by the Constitution empowered to act in his discretion, the decision of the President in his discretion shall be final, and the validity of anything done by the President shall not be called in question on the ground that he ought or ought not to have acted in his discretion."

Nope any third rate economist will tell you that the reason why Pakistan economy is doing so well is due to the economic stabilization program run by Shaukat Aziz and team.. IF NS was in power that aid wouldn't have been used for debt forgiveness but rather his own bank account.
fine u people are rite!
since u support this govt so much....wht do u have to say bout the rest of my post?!
about Nawaz's ex supporters running pakistan......dont u think they deserve punishment?
y are they let free?
was nawaz the only corrupt person in the govt?

who was ruinin the country under nawaz??? PML(N) now knows as PML(Q)......all crimes forgiven for siding with Musharraf!?
wheres the accountibality....wheres the NAB?
mann u people got double standards!
I agree with you 100%, people are devils if they oppose present government and same people become angels when support present dictatorship. But NS was created and groomed by a general. He was given people mandate with the help of military intelligence agencies. All his winning elections were sham and fraud. He was instrumental tormenting the elected government of BN, he insulted two PMs (BB and Junejo) when he was chief minister of Punjab. Now he is on the black list by the same people who made him Share-Punjab in the 90’s. What are you complaining about? What he sowed is now reaping the fruits of insulting and toppling of elected governments. When he preferred to move to SA from a Paki prison to live a lavish life, I think his political career is DOOMED.
you're rite!
wasnt complaining bout him.....he got what he deserved....but i think Shahbaz deserves better.....thats what i was complaining about....n the punishment that the PML(Q) leaders deserve
If you have read my earlier posts I am against all politicians...including shabaz (you seem to have forgotten his links with criminal syndycates)....I was talking about policy.....
