Nahi yaar things are no that bad yet. Islamabad is not Baghdad, and we still have very powerful army.
BTW, the government needs to developed 3 part strategy:
1) More than ever we need govt of national unity, and not protests. If that means Mushrraf has to go, he should for greater national interest.
2) How to take on jihadi salvages. Its long over due, and govt, ISI, MI and and army who have been in bed with these people for so long...it has to stop now. Its time to fight them and clean up the mess.
3) Time to get OBL and his Egyptian deputy along with the Mullah Omer and rest of the terrorists clowns. I suspect ISI, and people in the army know where he is. Its time to clean up this menace for good.

In bigger scheme of things none of these people really matter (or none of us for that matter). Jinnah left Pakistan orphaned at age of 1 year. We have been limping on since then, and these tragic times will pass too. Important thing is that we must avoid going into civil war and falling apart as a nation.

At the same time, he demanded a new election commission, new election commissioner and a new election. Not much about Bhuttoo.
I was hoping that he and other politicians would understand the sensitivity of the situation and try to calm people down, keep peace, and bring the situation back to some stability so we COULD have elections. He's already taking advantage of the situation for his return to power. Pathetic.
On a more serious note, we will see everyone from Nawaz Sharif to Qazi Hussain Ahmed, Imran Khan to Ghinwa Bhutto try and take the maximum advantage from Benazir's death. I was amazed to see Fatima Bhutto crying on TV...... She is a person who hated Benazir to the max, never met her during her life and openly wrote against Mrs. Benazir Zardari... Hypocrisy at its best!!!

I think there is going to be a big Bhutto clan fighting for party leadership. As for rest of the politicians they are opportunists. I saw NS on tv saying "aab maain Banazir ke jung laroon gaa".

NS as usual playing games, and taking adavantage of the very sad situation. NS can continue to flip-flop, and try to show himself as sincere to PPP cause.
No one will buy his false sinceretoty towards PPP. NS and PML (N) are history. If anything, PPP will emerge stronger in the aftermath of the most terrible and unnecessary killing of Benazir Bhutto. May she rest in peace. Ameen.

It just proves how much dheelaa character Sharief is. PPP will definitely go into elections and would cash the situation. Sharief is at least suppose to say keh we will think for our strategy after the situation is pretty calm. I am sure he would be changing his mind pretty soon.

Sounds like a plan. We need to clean up deep rooted support for these extremist from within ISI and MI. Thats the real problem that Mush didn't address. He just removed bunch of uniform men who were planning coup against himself. But he didn't do the real clean up that was required for the country. The mess CIA/ISI created in 80s is supposed to be cleaned completely once and for all. Even if it means killing thousands. Our so called progressive leadership has thrown country in a most shameful situation (since 1971, again millitary compaign) that people now openly talking about the 'country is falling apart' and 'disintegration has just begun' and 'complete failure of a country which once was seen as the leader of Islamic nations'. Be it calling US 'white elephant' or ripping apart UN resolution in 74, Kessingers' words have come true so many times. All four Bhuttos are murdered, millitary raped the country over and over and planted puppet and corrupt leaderships and divded country further.

The leader of the biggest (as per popular votes in 2002 elections) political party is assasinated just 12 days into election, what kind of election would that be where party and voters are in deep grief and needs time to reorganize themselves. I think for six months there must be a national government based on APC and then go for elections.

^Now the election predictions will be fullfilled what many pro-Mush supporters first predicted. PPP is no more and PML-N is boycotting...let us not guess who is going to win.

The leader of the biggest (as per popular votes in 2002 elections) political party is assasinated just 12 days into election, what kind of election would that be where party and voters are in deep grief and needs time to reorganize themselves. I think for six months there must be a national government based on APC and then go for elections.
I think 6 months is too long a delay for the elections, maybe a few weeks or a couple of months is better.
