Bye-polls: Unofficial results of NA-59 Attock-I, Tharparkar-III
(Updated at 1745 PST)
Attock: Counting of votes at polling stations in tharparkar-I and Attock-III for NA-229 and NA-59 seats has begun.
Brisk polling activity for bye-election to NA-229 Tharparkar-I and NA-59 Attock-III on Wednesday eventually came to an end. A large number of voters were witnessed to have thronged towards polling stations to exercise their right of franchise.
According to unofficial results, PML candidate Shaukat Aziz retains victory over ARD’s candidate Dr Sikander Hayyat in the bye-polls.
So far results of only 27 polling stations in Attock have been announced unofficially. Shaukat Aziz has secured total seven thousand votes, whereas Mr Hayyat got 2000 votes.
From polling stations in Fateh Jang, Shaukat Aziz got 7974 votes against 1547 votes secured by Sikander Hayyat.
I hope the numbers grow up by a factor of 10 or 20. To have less than 8,000 people vote for the winning candidate in a National Assembly constituency seems a trifle too low even for a bye-election. Infact this is rediculously low.
according to unofficial results till now
Shoukat has won the election in both the constituencies with a huge margin
in Tharparkar he has bagged away more than 1 lac. votes whereas in Attock he got more than 56,000 votes
