There was a line of argument in favour of Gillani that was not only logical but I believe judges would have understood it too ... and could have accepted it as Gillani excuse for not writing the letter, but how sad Atezaz missed it ... bad luck for Gillani.
It may be too late now but I think Atezaz line of argument should have been based on 'self-preservation'. He should have told judges that Gillani is elected Prime Minister who depends on PPP votes and approval of Zardari (who is chief of PPP). Since PPP was against him writing letter, Gillani feared, perceived or real, that if he would write letter Party would withdraw their support to him resulting in him losing Prime Ministerial post and any future political career. Gillani also feared political instability in the country if he had written the letter. So, it was nothing to do with demeaning courts or desiring to contempt court but action was to self-preserve his Prime ministerial post, his own political position, and political stability in the country, and that is why he did not write letter.
[Note: Self preservation is valid excuse in any court.]

for people the culprit (Gillani) is punished, electricity is restored, petroleum prices are in decline !!! and most of all they really have real short memory and they have lots of sympathy with then one who suffers, never mind if the suffering comes as a result of his ill-doings...
Iam not saying this is going to happen, but with Zardari in presidential palace, he will do whatever it takes... and it is not more 4 months it is about 8-10 months
I dont think so if the government can do something in 4 months which they couldnt do in 4 years, then people will ask them more questions (was the government playing with them during the past four years, if they had surplus energy and gas). Its very late for them, they should do their last bit of corruption and leave

its not only this case, its with regards to different cases over a period of time. Look the conduct of the government in NICL case, and how they got Moonis Illahi freed for example as Qatil League joined them in the center.
I have red in the newspapers that the judges have written in their judgement that prosecution have failed to conduct proper investigation in this case and something more i am not a lawyer but i think based on this or if new evidences are found in future, then the case can be re-opened...

the loadshedding can end if they pay off some outstanding bills of the IPPs, and in summers the gas loadshedding will be better too. If they hold the elections in September and October, they can easily control the loadshedding. Keep it in mind that if the elections are held in october or november, we should have an interim setup in place for the last 2-3 months. The government can cosmetically end the gas and electricity loadshedding for 2-3 months agreed, but people will ask them questions now. Dont forget PMLQ in the last elections, people do keep these things in mind now before voting.

Well, political post depends on political support. If there is no political support, there is no political post for an individual.
As for Taqreeb-e-Half Bardari, it is about doing what is good for the country ... as perceived by the person holding the post of responsibility, and it is nothing to do with court verdicts. Anyhow, case was about ‘contempt of court’ and if that contempt was intentional or due to some valid reason. Self-preservation is valid reason.

there you go, you said it... and interim setup will be like lunch/tea or day break in a test match, where the momentum set in last over counts !!! living a day on higher note and then supporters forget how bad they performed in first 20 over or in the 1st two sessions or in the 1st two innings...and in case of Pakistan, they will even cheer and call then crickets heroes if they only win one match out of 5 match series if it is the last match they won...
I hope people do not forget how PPP govt treated them for last 4 years...

Aap samajh hee nahi rahay ho. Gillani is Prime Minister due to approval of Zardari and support of PPP. That means, he has to listen to those who made him Prime Minister.
On the other hand, what is right and what is wrong for the country can be decided by those holding the post. He as Prime Minister can decide that, not court judges.
As for court judges and their orders, it was nothing to do with good or bad for the country but legal or illegal in law. Prime Minister did not obeyed court order not as individual but as Prime Minister, because he thought that it is not good for the country (or for himself), as without support from PPP he could have lost his post as well as country could have got into political instability, that is all (well, he could have used that argument to defend himself).

This is the lamest thing i have ever heard!!! PM resigning leaving Pakistan into political turmoil... would you mind telling us all here what Pakistan is going through from last 4 years???
And PM is so selfish that he want to grab on power no matter what.. and for that he would do whatever it takes, today have to bow down to zardari and tomorrow to some enemy of Pakistan, this kind of person should not be given this kind of post..

People's Party should not cry fowl, let CJ indict Gilani. I am sure Zardari can find lot more idiots in his party who will be ready to become 'yes sir three bags full'. Besides, if Gilani is indicted then PPP will have good position to push for cases against military.
