PM Gilani asks militants to abandon path of violence; vows restoration of deposed judges

ISLAMABAD, March 29 (AFP): Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani Saturday urged militants to renounce violence and offered to hold talks with those who give up arms and join the new democratic era. Addressing the parliament after wining a unanimous vote of confidence, Gilani said terrorism was the biggest threat undermining Pakistan’s stability. “Our first priority will be restoration of law and order and elimination of terrorism from the country,” said Gilani. “The fight against terrorism is our own fight because it has claimed innocent lives of children and young men of Pakistan…unfortunately some people have made violence a means to express their views. I appeal to all those people to abandon the path of violence and join us in the journey of democracy.” Gilani promised a special package of political and economic reforms in tribal areas as part of government strategy to fight terrorism and extremism. Gilani also said his government would continue efforts to reinstate judges ousted by President Musharraf in November last year under emergency rule and said the government would ensure the independence of the judiciary. Fantastic approach. Simply asking militants to abandon their beliefs.

Why didn't anyone think of it before? I can now see how this man will lead Pakistan to glory with this approach, in his three months.

Re: PM Gilani asks militants to abandon path of violence; vows restoration of deposed

^ just asking works sometimes, with charismatic leaders. and there's no cost or downside to asking is there

Re: PM Gilani asks militants to abandon path of violence; vows restoration of deposed

Dang, I thouhgt you were commenting on restoration of judges who did not take oath under Mush's PCO.:)

Re: PM Gilani asks militants to abandon path of violence; vows restoration of deposed

Yea, I heard today that Ramday house arrest is over and now he is out of the house for good … suna kay, boriya bistar saab ghar kay bahar phaik diya giya, what a lifting of house arrest it was  Seems restoration of deposed judges would follow same way.

Re: PM Gilani asks militants to abandon path of violence; vows restoration of deposed

LOL Think about this for a moment. I'll give you more then a moment to digest this: you are asking wahabis to stop being violent.

violence includes, blowing up Pakistani military and government personal, suicide bombing shia mosques and congregations, firing on sunni juloos and assaulting them, blowing up sufi shrines and murdering ahmedis among other past time hobbies of the wahabis.

I can't believe anyone who thinks simply asking wahabis to give it a rest is in touch with ground realities.

Re: PM Gilani asks militants to abandon path of violence; vows restoration of deposed

^ hey, I know it is wishful thinking but why not. Sometimes a strange code of 'honor' comes to play between what we call 'dadas' in the streets. The rowdy goes "look man....don't think we're scared. I'm leaving because you asked me nicely man to man...".

Like I said, wishful thinking.

Gilani has already started with the good old 'sacrifices in Kashmir' line to appease the jihadi gang. The necessary trio for the drama (zardari, NS and Gilani) are in place with the COAS taking the appointed watchful stance from a step behind. Games afoot.

It is like writing a letter on a nice thick stationary addressed to Hulaku Khan.

**Mr. Hulaku Khan,

Hope you are doing well. I am sure you are enjoying constructing them towers of skulls. We just realized that we have never asked you to stop building those towers. They kind of look odd in our city scape. Therefore our city's architecture committee humbly asks you to quit erecting those towers, and stop sending your mad nutcase suicide bombers.

Yours truly,

Prime Minister (Khalifa) of Islamic Jamhooria.

p.s. come by and we can have gahwa and shaa-ay (tea). My younger son wants to play chess with you.
**

And you know guys! Hulaku Khan received that letter with love and reverence. After that he ordered to burn down every building, kill every man, and kidnap every woman.

But I hope against hope, that our PM's "request" to Taliban will work.

And oh forgot to add Mr. Halaku Khan , you probably remember the free reign you had when our beloved president was brutally supressing his own people to safeguard his kursi and let you over run Swat. Please pay a visit to presdient house he might need your help to create more trrouble in the country so that he could dissolve the parliament and impose emergency, after all his kursi is more important than the country.

Re: PM Gilani asks militants to abandon path of violence; vows restoration of deposed

Bhai mere, kabhi to sach likh dya karo. Without looking for the truth, you keep on writing ‘mangarhat’ many pages due to your un-conditional love for Mush.
It was your most honest CJ Dogar, appointed by great Mush after Quaid, had carried out this ugly action at his own. Read following:D

Justice Ramday said his assistant had phoned him from Islamabad and told him that Chief Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar had ordered court officials to have the residence vacated. These officials had broken the locks and started taking out furniture and other household items, he said.

Re: PM Gilani asks militants to abandon path of violence; vows restoration of deposed

^ Teh illegal president playing games again to save his kursi. Ramday was very critical of his illegal rule when he was released so the dictator decided to teach him a lesson through his henchman Dogar, who after all got loans at preference rates as payoff for supporting his hold on illegal kursi.

Hats off to Gillani for ordering the reversal of this vindictive and illegal order. Puts the dictator in his place.

Re: PM Gilani asks militants to abandon path of violence; vows restoration of deposed

Gilani has apologized Justice Ramday. Good Riddence!

Is this Justice Musa Leghari, Farooq Leghari's relative?

Gilani apologizes Justice Ramday on phone Sunday, March 30, 2008
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani in a phone call on Sunday apologized with Justice Khalil-ur-Rahman Ramday for the incident on Saturday.

“You are respectable for us and the people involved in the incident will be taken to task,” Gilani said to Justice Ramday in telephonic conversation.

It is recalled that the belongings of Justice Ramday and his family were thrown out of the house in the Justice Lodges, which was being allotted to Justice Musa Leghari.
