that is your opinion and you are entitled to it. To me, there is no proof. and never will be solid physical evidence that praying does anything.

If you are a Muslim, below should be enough for you. And if you are not, then it may not bring you any good.
Allah (swt) says in the Holy Qur'an,
I ANSWER THE PRAYER OF THE SUPPLICANT WHEN HE CALLS ON ME; SO THEY MUST OBEY ME AND BELIEVE IN ME, SO THAT THEY MAY ATTAIN GUIDANCE.
Al-Baqarah, Verse:186.
And then there are several prayers taught in the Holy Qur'an, several prayers are mentioned which were prayed by several Messengers of Allah (peace be upon them). And several prayers are taught by the last Messenger of Allah (may Allah exalt his mention). So have good faith in Allah and ask Him for what ever you wish, with certainity. He is All Powerfull.

don't try to give me that knee jerk response "if you are muslim then you must..." I believe in common sense. Not magical prayers and jadoo and other ridiculous things. When something happens, its because i go out and DO it.

I will make a little change to what you said.
Praying alone won't bring you a husband. Doing something on your own or seeking the help of your friends and family will help you get a good husband.
Post your profile on matrimonial website, advertise in newspapers and tell everyone that you are interested in getting married with some good guy and pray to Allah too.

The conversation above reminds me of what my father once told me - Praying and having faith is good because its a part of our religion and one must not let that go i.e. if you're religious then its your thing and each to its own but along with that one must realize that if praying along could have done anything then our Mullahs would have been getting all their desires and wishes fulfilled since they pray a lot. ( But since I am a confused follower and I have phases, there are times I am really religious and have faith and all but then there are times when I don't at all want to believe in anything but then again thats my problem so no one needs to be judgmental yet I'd say that don't Mullahs think about the world here after and all so yeah don't know).
Khair I agree with Mirch, that sitting at home and not doing anything just praying and expecting for someone to miraculously come at your door step is not really a wise thing to do...you need to socialize a bit as well and then with the help of Allah hopefully everything will happen I.A.

Hmmm, an atheist responding in a thread on prayers in a religion forum. If you want to argue religion open up a thread and present your views rather than wasting other people's time.
