plugged in but not charging

so all of a sudden my laptop battery stopped charging!! it’s plugged in but not charging? anything i can do to fix this problem and would any one know why this happend? :konfused:

I had exactly the same problem…we bought our lappy from DELL…so i called their tech support and since my lappy was under warranty [less than a year old], they did the diagnostics on the fone. they told me that the lappy’s receptacle was broken. they sent a technician to my home a day after and she replaced the receptacle [by taking it from the new motherboard she brought with her] and gave us a new charger as well…total charges would have been $375 but I was NOT charged a penny…GREAT service by DELL…they called me 3 times after to make sure my comp was working fine. :slight_smile: thubs up DELL :k:

eek.. mines out of warranty nothing i can do to fix it on my own?

you may buy an extended warranty…did you buy from DELL? it will still be cheaper to fix…first make sure the what’s wrong with the computer. it could be just the charger or the battery itself.

no its not dell and i dont think extended warranty can be purchased now ust be purchased at time of purchase.. :bummer:

**yeah, first find out what’s wrong with it then evaluate costs b4 you buy the extended warranty if it’s available to you.

NO, you can BUY even after the initial one year factory warranty runs out…the catch is…you computer must NOT be in need of repair at the time of purchase of the extended warranty.**

If your co worker or friend or someone in family has same laptop replace the battery and see if their battery starts charging in your computer , if it does then you need new battery.
Most of the time the battery and power supply in most models of same brand stays same for many years that makes it easy to try out this trick.

i jst had the SAME problem. The charger was broken somehow. Bought a new charger, and we’re OK!

i have a extra universal charger at home somewhere hopefully its nothing more then the charger.. :bummer:

It happened to me a couple times. I restarted the computer and plugged it in again and it started charging. Give that a try.
