plucking hair from upper lips

Sister you saved me a post ...

The Sikhs use the argument of changing creation on hair growth vs cutting hair ... We have a much more refined definition ... It is to do with permanent change ... Hair growth in areas that are considered abnormal are under many interpretations allowed for removal ... That means much of female facial hair growth ... Although because of the specific Hadith on prostitutes the behaviour of removing the eye brows and drawing in made up lines and facial tattoo markings was the trade mark of such women and that is to be avoided ...

Re: plucking hair from upper lips

It was the trademark at that time. If we apply that now, then any working woman and in fact, most desi women that show up to a dawat are prostitutes then. Everyone gets their eyebrows done. It's just grooming them, we're not peeling off everyone's eyebrows and painting in a silver line or something freaky.

while i agree with the logic of your statement, PCG. however, if a lot of people do something that doesn't mean it's right. in this day and age, premarital --- between two consenting individual is okay with most people but, theologically/morally speaking, is it right?

Re: plucking hair from upper lips

Cleaning your eyebrows is allowed. Any hair that looks out of place above, underneath, or between your eyebrows you may remove. But shaping them, completely shaving them and then drawing them in with pencil is haraam. You can remove hair from any other part of you body, upper lip and cheeks included.
