Pakistan says its security forces have foiled a terror plot to attack the Parliament House and the ISI headquarters, arresting 36 people believed to be involved.
“The terrorists were planning to target the building of the Parliament House and ISI but the Islamabad Police and Intelligence Agencies in a joint action foiled these terror attempts,” the Pakistani Interior Minister Rehman Malik briefed the Senate Standing Committee on Interior in the Parliament House on Monday.
Militants in Pakistan frequently make attempts to target state facilities; however, their efforts are usually limited to police stations and checkpoints and are carried out through suicide bombings or rocket attacks.
In a major terror plot, militants in Islamabad planted a truck bomb in the luxurious Marriott Hotel last September, killing close to 60 people.
Good proactive work. Hopefully all 36 people can be prosecuted which rarely happens. Was this the action of good or bad taliban/jihadis? Not sure who these days is good or bad according to ISI.
I know it’s becoming increasingly confusing, but we must appreciate the interactive intelligence sharing, and joint work of local law enforcement along with ISI and other agencies.
This could hve been disastrous if it was executed. Good coordination by all agencies involved. :k:
More of the same is needed on a nation scale to prevent anymore bloodshed/infrastructure damage. I hope the news is sourced by other networks in Pakistan too, this has been found on Press TV so far.
Taliban are trying for even more spectacular attacks, as revenge for swat defeat and to make more of a statement.
If they succeed, it would be a series of devastating and concentrated attacks in specific urban areas, likely in punjab. The problem for them is that large scale attacks require larger number of men and material and are easier to detect than your 2 or 3 man cell.
If police let their guard down and taliban manage to assemble a large assault and "fidai" team, it will be a war like scenario in their target city like no other before. Maybe 10+ assault teams with multiple suicide bombers in each team, plus car and truck bombs all targeting one city at the exact same time. Imagine the carnage and panic.
If only the taliban were as "brilliant" as you are, they would be finished within one day. Instead they are more realistically collaborating with jihadists within the ISI, army and other security agencies which they have done so in the past as well.
^ collaborating with ISI and blowing up its building, very nice!
I said so because,
both MQM and taliban don't like guys in parliament and ISI
both have a history of violence
you seem to have lots of insider information. ;)
Not the first time ISI has become an own goal for it's people. 50+ PAF personal were caught collaborating with jihadis. The number in the army is even higher. After all, it was ISI's Col. Imam who for years was the right hand man of Mullah Omar, the Amir-ul-Momineen of all Taliban factions.
I'll only agree with your point 3, but my sources are with people fighting the jihadi menace.

So, Point 1, MQM likes guys in parliament and ISI? Point 2, MQM never used violence? Say this is true! I dare you :P
Remind me, exactly who is fighting the jihadi menace?

Disliking somebody is very different from plotting terrorism against somebody. Do you like Zardari or the parliament? If not, are you taliban?
MQM used violence to defend itself. Has the Pakistani state used violence ever? Is Pakistan equal to Taliban if it has?
MQM and like minded people has been fighting them since all the pakistani security agencies were coddling them during the Soviet war or even more recently calling Baitulluah Mehsud the greatest patriot of pakistan (army corp commander's statement).
This is not fair, don't ask him direct question, your questions can cost him his job & Life...
I'm not worried about what answers I give, as I already have. You should be worried about your spots in case deputy talib commander ansar abbasi gets upset over them and reports you to FIA over blasphemy.

You did not answer. You said MQM and like minded people are foiling these terror plots and fighting terrorists. For me, MQM people are street dogs that act like lions in their own streets.
Please be specific, who did that foiling? who is fighting the terrorists?
P.S. About APMSO: how can you even contrast an organisation promoting violence in the name of race to those spreading violence in name of religion. Both are children of the same mother.

APMSO was formed to defend the mohajir people from the attack of the state and other ethnic groups, it was not formed to tell others how to live their live through force.
MQM has been fighting the influx of jihadis into Karachi since before you were born most likely. This whole history is an open book, nothing for me to repeat. SSP. ST, JI all have been largely confined in Karachi thanks to the sacrifices made by MQM. It's a daily struggle in a city as large and diverse as Karachi.
