I saw Arundhati Roy’s () documentary today and it filled me up with bile and fire. I wanted to share my thoughts/impressions right after watching the documentary:
International Monetory Fund, World Trade organization and The World Bank, all three undemocratic organizations self governed and regulated, preach the message of democracy and make the decisions for those of us living in the developing world. We are told what to do. Our policies are regulated and our freedoms are restricted. All three organization serve to protect the corporations that have vested interest in every resource: oil, trees, air, ports, raw materials, water, brains e.t.c
Politics, Business, Justice, Commerce and Freedom are all interwined now. Justice and Freedom are now dispensed at the liberty of “the empire” supported by big corporations. Richest 1% of the world population owns the combined wealth of around bottom 60% of the world. The world for most of the world’s population is a repeat exercise in humiliation, injustice, powerlessness, loss and fear. Governments of “the empire” are directly reponsible for the misery and worldwide confusion.
“The Empire” believes as long as its people enjoy their luxuries, the comforts, the ecstacies of modern age they would turn a blind eye to rest of the world. In many ways “the empire” has succeeded in controlling what we think and believe with a mass propoganda machine preaching nationalism, justifying “the empire’s” brutality across the world and brainwashing the masses with patriotism and fear.
With statements like “you are either with us or against us”, “You are either pro-islam or anti islam” e.t.c. We are told to believe that our intrinsic human feelings need to be inline with how we feel towards our government’s policies. No. Its about time we started to think and recognize that there is a world way bigger than ourselves out there. The comforts we enjoy are being dispensed by our governments acquired at the expense of the poor. They think that we will keep quite as long as we have our luxuries. At the very least we shouldnt stop thinking and challenge everything they tell us the believe.
Think for yourself. Read between the lines, Have an open mind and know that nothing is what it seems!
