Situation is that HM, PP, & CB went in a hotel for dinner and after finishing their meals, they asked waiter Mahool for the bill. The bill was issued by SID_Ny US$ 75.
All three aka HM, PP & CB paid US$ 25 each contribution. But SID_Ny having a big heart gave discount of US$ 5 and asked Mahool to return it to them.
Mahool bhai was confused how to return US$ 5 equally to them. So he kept US$2 for himself and returned US$3 to each (US$1 for each).
Basically, HM, PP & CB paid for their dinner US$ 24 each.
When they calculated their contribution, it is total of US$ 72 + US$2 was kept by Mahool.
Forget about 75 dollars cz after getting 1 dollar back, each of us paid 24 dollars which takes our grand total to 72 ( the actual amount paid).. Out of which, hotel has taken 70 and Mahol sahab has taken 2, which means 70 ( good bill) + 2 (Mahols tip) = 72 ( the actual amount paid)…
24.33 each for all three customers eventually. Forget about the tip, its just a mathematical distraction, the question is regarding missing $ which was never missing in the first place. The real hub of this puzzle is for each customer, their actual contribution $72 and the money in waiter’s pocket i.e $2 are to be subtracted to get the total amount of the bill (not added)
