please share tips.......

can we have a fashion tips sticky?

i want to share tips and would like u all to add some too…

  1. my biggest peeve is visible panty lines. it looks horrible! ladies even if u are wearing the hottest pair of jeans and heels, visible panty lines just destroy the whole look…get a thong already!

  2. WHY ? why do people still wear those huge flip flops with three-four inch thick soles? they make women look like horses… there’s nothing else that shouts “hey im short so check out my HUGE ass heels” plus it doesnt blend into any dress except maybe a longggggggg lengha under which noone can see anything…
try thinner heels… i promise it wont hurt!

  3. lip liner darker than the lipstick u wear is a DONT! we really dont want to be able to see the shape of your lips from miles away…dont tempt us to fill-in-the-blanks!

  4. less is more when it comes to makeup- u dont have to wear primer, foundation, loose powder, blush, 3 diff shades of eyeshadow, eye glitter, eyebrow pencil, eye liner top n bottom, mascara, lip-liner, lipstick/gloss all at once! and no not even at your cousin’s weddings! there is a very good reason why my guy friends tell me that desi weddings are like halloween parties.

  5. DO NOT WEAR see thru shalwar kamiz …there is nothing more disgusting trust me!:crying: u r better off wearing a midriff top and a skirt than revealing your bra shade, your back/legs/shalwar ka zaarban hanging. and DO NOT wear a WHITE bra under black clothes and vice versa (GASP!)

  6. if u are not model-thin, dont dress like it. wearing a shalwar kamiz where it seems like your chest will burst any second, or when you can count the folds on your tummy are no good. in such a case a looser fit is more flattering. try #7 instead…

  7. darker shades (black, dark blue, dark brown, red) have a slimming effect with black being the most slimming. also dress monochromatic (all in one color) to create one single unbroken line and look slimmer. add a pair of (thin) heels and you will look like you lost 5 pounds already. also body skimming outfits are better than body hugging outfits.

8)the right accessories can make all the difference. but there IS such a thing as too much…With a busy outfit (too many prints) basic pieces of jewellery are best and with plain outfits you can pile on the jewellery to spice it up. Remember BALANCE BALANCE BALANCE!

thats all for now folks! will be back with more soon!

Re: please share tips.......

I agree with all of em especially #5!!!

Re: please share tips.......

Everyone in pakistan seems to be very okay with with wearing see-thru clothes. When i had slips made for my bareeze suits my cousins were shocked. Covering the front with a dupatta is good enough, everyone can view the back to their heart's content :D Looks very untidy and ofcourse indecent.

Re: please share tips…

I thinksee through suits are totally tacky and ugly. THey only belong in the bedroom

I’m guilty of # 2 :bummer:

And i wear foundation, concealor, pressed powder, mascara and eyebrow pencil and eyeshadow and eyeliner… trust me I don’t look like a clown :snooty:

Re: please share tips…

oh come on! they are so 1995!

and no u dont look like a clown…i guess in some cases you CAN get away with putting everything on but only if the shades are natural looking…

Re: please share tips.......

I think the next time i go to pak, i will stop these women and pretend like i am the fashion police and tell em they look ugly, not sexy!

Re: please share tips.......

9 ) tapered jeans-uffffffff! JUST DONT WEAR THEM OK? unless you are like 5'8+ and thin as a wafer! they make hips seem huge and just look really really bad ok? I just cant say enough bad things about it.....go for a slight low rise and flared pair of jeans to balance hips and to elongate your torso.......
there is only one reason to wear tapered jeans - ....you tuck them into nice boots :)

10) capris and cut-off pants are really not for everyone, they make legs look short and stocky.....so beware!

11) white and light colored clothes make makeup stand out.....so avoid heavy foundation/powder with it....

Re: please share tips…

lolz yes do that! take a camera with u pretending u are taping them…

Re: please share tips.......

Hun, ill show u the pix n let u be the judge ;)

Re: please share tips.......

Guilty of number three on a lesser degree and at a cousins wedding too... minus the primer, mascara on bottom lashes and eyebrow pencil. In my defense, i go easy on the lipstick and def play up my eyes.. makeup is fun..

Re: please share tips…

Yes, esp sometimes I go crazy with eyeshadows.. ilov colorrr

Re: please share tips.......

^^ me too sarah, especially shimmery powder shadows

Girls with frizzy hair, Get a straightner or something to calm it down
Shouldn't relaxed fit jeans/pants be banned by now
shrugs are Not for pulling ur chest together, go easy with the strappy thingies of it.

Re: please share tips.......

DONT use shimmery powder shadows in daytime plz ...

Re: please share tips.......

^^ if u dare go at it in daytime, the color should be neutral and a single very light stroke should suffice

Re: please share tips…

lol, true…

Ladies, can i say something? NEVER i mean NEVER buy foundation which is lighter than your skin tone, it doesnt make you look fairer but looks like “pluster”. and pls, blend it nicely.. shouldnt look like patches.

I am no fashion designer, but come on, you dont really have to put lace on EVERY dress (shalwar qameez) that you make. Sometimes the color doesnt even match and there is loads of lace on the dress. Lace is OUT.

Buying shalwar qameez, dont go for those cheap dresses which are 350/- rs for 3 pc. LAWN… they dont have good prints.
Most people think that if you pay less for one suit you can buy more in quantity… Dont go for quantity.. go for the quality of the material + print. The best lawn i know in pakistan, is CLASSIC lawn, 500/- for one suit, if you dont want to spend too much on lawn suits.

I have seen here in dubai, the amount of PERFUME ladies put on… uffffff, somtimes it makes me sick :yukh: The best way is to keep the smell to yourself, perfume yourself, not the whole environment.

Re: please share tips.......

Most desi girls need to take it easy with make up, especially around the eye. Most times they look like something out of a horror movie. Keep it simple.

Re: please share tips.......

i dont get it...if people are happy with what they are wearing, what is anyone else's problem??? If you dont like it, then dont look..simple as that..who are we to judge???? my biggest pet peeve is when people tell larger women to only wear black and dark colours? why? that is so depressing!! its their body, their life...if they are confident, then wear what u want!!!
I'm sick of every 2nd paki chick I know going on diets....like some soap commerical says: " love the skin ur in!!"....that is my motto!!!!

Re: please share tips.......

^^ yaar this is just a tips thread for those who "might" be interested in looking thinner. we are not advocating that heavier women MUST not do this or that but most women do like to look good and not everywoman knows what every other woman does about ways to make the best of what she has.

oh yes one more tip....

bronzer/blush under the cheekbones defines them/contours your face and blush ON the apples of your cheeks gives a healthy look....so go with the shape of your face to determine where you should put the blush.

i am horrible with eye makeup...esp eyeshadows :( i learned to put on eyeliner the right way just last year lolz.
sara i saw your pics you look fantastic! esp the first two are really good...the third one is ok and the last one is very hip!

Re: please share tips.......

if desi girls can just go with 2, 4, 6 everything else can be forgiven

Re: please share tips.......

thongs are bad for health shweety... won't recommend them
